Ok, I'm behind schedule on this, but oh well.... I'm going for accuracy. Anyway, I'm well into the cockpit right now, but here are some exterior shots. The dorsal tail fillet will be removed for the D-25....

I'll tell ya JT, those screen shots are almost as cool as a finished working plane!

It is like a virtual building hanger heheh.

Looks kick ass!

That should prove the best looking plane in any flight sim ever. Incredible detail.

Heheh... indeed... You can't see it clearly in the screenshots, but I have all sorts of blueprints and wierd looking widgety tools and parts lying around the scene. It's interesting how making a virtual plane produces virtual debris. In my case, it's seriously piling up because I'm too lazy to clean up the scene. :-)

JT,

Outstanding work ...
This P-47 is like a dream. I am sending the link to a lot of friends that fly Warbirds in a P-47 Squad.
I am a very bad guy

Wood, that looks great. Modeling for the last few weeks i've learn that this stuff takes time. I've also noticed that you always need to keep the poly's down

how many poly' is that? looks like it pretty heavy.

It's about 1500 faces right now, but I can probably optimize it a lot when I'm done. I generally start off with a high poly count so I can focus on modeling shapes accurately and then pare down when I need to. Also, what you see in the screenshots above represents the highest level of detail, which I plan to only make visible from 50 to 80 feet. Beyond that, I'm really going to break it down into very simple meshes. I really don't care what the plane looks like from far away, but I want it to look correct up close. The chances that you'll ever have multiple planes on your screen that are that close at the same time are very remote. That's why LODs are so cool, and I really want to experiment with the concept.
