I went to Hippie's Junk Page and downloaded
the "f4u-sm.zip" file and the "f4u-ac.zip" file. Forgive my ignorance but, are there any other files I need to have in order to get this to work in SDOE? Also, what sub-directory name would I use under the media/aircraft directory?

Make a DIR. called f4u in the aircraft folder.

copy any Loadout file from any of the plane dir's, then place it in the f4u dir. Then open the loadout.ppf file and change the name of the plane at the top. should look something like this
============================
Parsoft Property File
(
descName "BF-109G"
descCountry 'strGermany
descPicture "GUI/Art/Hangar/Germany/bf109G/cutaway.bmp"
============================

change the descName to "f4u"

then if will show upin the mission editor and you can place it in a mission. be warned. The plane is really rough. Theres no cockpit, no cockpit glass, the elevators are reversed, and theres no texture mapping. The model is very ruff too.

Other then that, its a ok plane. I was going to work on it, but started a new project in its place.

If i had some really good photo's of the F4U and some good photos of the flaps (up and down) then i might think of making the plane.

but we will have to see.

Thanks Razer!!
You are my new best SDOE bud!! (even though this is a pacific plane, hehe)

Any model or hobby store or section of a toy store would probably have picture you could glance at. Hint, Hint, Hint, Please release this one as an alpha if you can. This is IMHO the most popular American WWII Pacific plane.

Update: Razor, I just typed in "F4U Corsair" into yahoo's search engine. Everything you could possibly need to know or see is there. (1304 hits/sites dedicated to F4U stuff)

Condor,

Make sure you drop by the OPPs website and pick up a few docs. The url is http://www.fshangar.com/area51/
The HDD is a good intro to everything SDOE and the rest are all related to Open Plane.

Hi Razer,

I followed your instructions to the letter, but..., all I get is a desktop crash when I try to run the mission with the f4u. Should I be placing the .ac files somewhere? Could you let me know if following the directions you gave to me gives you a desktop crash as well? It could be just my machine.

Also if you would like me to take over the f4u project let me know. I would have a question or two along the way since I am a total novice currently with this stuff. I am a quick learner though. I am sure it would take me at least 8 months but then you would be free to work on others.

Thanks,

Condor,

It should work, the ac. file is only for AC3D. you don't need that unless you plane to work on it.

I'll have to look at it this weekend.

Hi Razer,

I have tried everything I can think of to no avail. I still get a crash to the desktop when I try to fly the F4U. Have you had any luck???
Also I tried to open the .ac files in AC3D which also doen't work. Do you know what might be causing this?

Also #2, Any chance we (or you) could work on the F4U for the contest? I just want to have a flyable F4U. If I can be of any help please let me know.
