Ok get yer grubby little hands on it here: http://www.southwest.com.au/~awhite/ I haven't gone for my usual installshield install so as to keep the size down. It's all in a self extracting zip file with instructions. All the standard released planes are part of the copy process and I added the bf109g as one of the first user designed plane tifs. I use a standard windows desktop scheme so those with other schemes may see a light grey square around the logo, this will be fixed in another version. Zoy did a fantastic job on drawing the logo and testing the util for you guys too. Have fun. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Spyder, a suggestion: could you make it so the user could ADD theaters (or themes) by adding more directories with skins inside and your application will extend its list of available themes at launchtime. That way, we could have several themes for one theater for example we could use BoB/D-Day skins in Dover and Africa/Pacific skins in Africa (since we use the Akagi in Africa, let's pretend its Pacific until we have a suitable map)Thanks! ------------------ Pachy's SDOE stuff perso.club-internet.fr/gledimet

OK....who stole my balls? I'm playing around with Chameleon and B-17G skins. Found out the hard way that multiple tifs. don't work with Chameleon and you end up with a checker board plane. Put everything back together and now I don't have a ball turret! Just a hole you can look up into from the air and a black whole from the interior. The B-17 "F" ball turret is still there so it's not a corruption of the basic B-17 model. How can changing skins around make the ball turret disappear? How do I get may balls back? HELP IP: Logged |

Jerry, word has it that your balls haven't dropped yet, plenty of time for all that.....errr oh that ball...yeah, in the pre hype on Chameleon's construction I mentioned the lack of support for multiple tifs for those planes that use them, I neglected to include that info in the information section of the control though. That will be added in the next release, though you can still use the single texture tifs that are available for the B17 and will display all colours. The only plane with more than one texture that works right now is the Bf109G. Also on adding theatres etc. I will make a whole pile of folders, that should satisfy the camo hungry user in the next release too. I could make it use an ini file so you could create more folders within the app and then it could search the ini for those theatres and copy what's in them as necessary too. I might try that next. All I need now is something to remind me to use the util when entering a game, I keep forgetting to use the proper schemes before kicking off! Something not quite right about desert camo's in Dover!------------------ IP: Logged |

Spyder, fine, I understand about the tifs. But after putting all the tifs back where they belong and removing all B17 tifs from the new Cameleon folders I still don't have a ball turret![This message has been edited by Jerry (edited 12-02-1999).] IP: Logged |

Hooray! I do have balls! Spyder, it wasn't Chameleon at all. It was the damage model .sm done recently (I think by Whirlwind) that is supposed to increase the hits a B-17 can take. I removed it and the ball turret returned. I put the .sm back in and the ball turret disappeared again. I think I'll post a warning in the Technical area. If that's not the right area I'm sure kopper will relocate it. Thanks for Chameleon. I hope you can make multiple tifs work as a lot of the skins have them. IP: Logged |

I knew it wasn't Chameleon's fault, glad you sorted it out. How many planes use the multiple tifs? Out of the standard planes I think only the B17 does? No problem making it work for all the new ones with multiple tifs, just waiting to see what comes up before modifying the util too soon. Yeah the gestap...errr Kopper, has control over the General area only. Seig heil!------------------ IP: Logged |

Some of the FW skins have multiple tifs - spinners, etc. Maybe others I haven't come across. One plane has an exhaust tif, don't remember which.IP: Logged |

No worries, I'll grab a scheme for each of the planes and see what tifs are being used. I unpacked the parfiles and there are many more tifs in the standard planes than have been used in the user painted schemes so far.

Heya,Actually all planes have more than one texture. These textures make up all sorts of things, from cockpits, wall tiles, wheels, under the flaps, and so on. This version of Chameleon works with only the planes that shipped with SDOE. And only one texture from each. In general the tifs used by the skins or the aircraft are as follows: "On the Left are the aircraft "folder" names. In quotes are the names in which you will have to save each tif or "skin" Note that some are different than their folder names." P51d (save Tif as "P51d") P38j (save Tif as "P38JNewcopy") B17g (save Tif as "Gb17g2") Other B17 Tifs: gb17gEngfrnt, gb17gEngine2, gb17gnoseart4, gb17gnoseart4txt fw190A (save Tif as "Fw190A2") Other Fw Tifs: germspin, germspin4 Me262 (save Tif as "Me262") Ju88a4 (save Tif as "Ju88A4") Spit (save Tiff as "Spit11") Mosq (save Tif as "Mosq") Typh (save Tif as "Typh256") Lanc (save Tif as "Lanc") As I said, all planes have more than 1 tif, these are only the ones used to do the basic skin of these aircraft. With the exception of the multiple textures for the FW and B17, these files and names will work for SDOE Chameleon.
