Is it possible with the current code to model the negative G cut-out of the early version Merlins? Obviously this was a key weakness in the non fuel-injected Battle of Britain era Spits and Hurricanes, as they couldn't follow the Emil with its fuel-injected inverted DB) in a negative G pushover, without the engine cutting out. Instead they had to undertake a time consuming half roll before pulling into the dive inverted. Thus the Luftwaffe managed to gain valuable breathing space before their greater acceleration in the dive enabled them to pull away.

It's something that EAW models quite well (as I also believe MS Combat Sim does). Can SDOE?

Sadly ... No.

Truth be told the engines in FS are pretty "uber" in every sense of the word (is it a word?)

No over rev ... no over heating ... no seizing ... no fuel loss ... no oil loss ...

no superchargers, no boosting, no manual prop pitch or other engine controls ..

I don't think I ever push many negative gees when I'm flying, with a good opponent this is not a good tactic. I'd really like to see engine overheating though and the course/fine prop pitch setting the Spit1a was limited to, this was considered a serious limitation since you are always either overheating or overspeeding the engine.

Negative G's trigger a red screen. Why not trigger a throttle decrease? Would a patch do it or is it hard coded? Maybe Project X.

The only way I believe you can get in there and change that kind of stuff is to break some very strict copyright laws and data laws. But if you ignore that then all you gotta do is find a decompiler and take apart sdoe.exe and you would be in HEAVEN =)hmmm doesn't sound like a bad idea. Maybe seriously we can get parsoft to maybe give us some of their code and we can edit it to our likings. It just a thought, but what the hell!
