I would vote for the F4U with working tailhook, and same for the Zero. Of course we need cables on our carrier. Carrier ops make SDOE a brand new game!

I'd say a F4U CORSAIR.It's my vote.
It was used in Pacific and Europe too.
In europe it was used in a bomber raider
against the battleship Tirpitz.
It's a good plane.

Jag,

So call me a hypocrite! Right now the last thing we need is another plane. However, if it was another RCAF bomber like the Wellington or Halifax then I would fly them.

So take a hike you whirllie bird man!

I very much want a Hawker Hurricane (someone is working on one) also a Mitchell bomber

Oh what the hell, I want every plane that ever fired a gun or dropped a bomb in World War II. Well it is getting near Christmas.

Please Santa, I've been a good pilot this year (except for a few strafing-of-downed-pilots incidents, and one death-to-wingie incident O8-D ), so please, I'd like someone to finish the Stuka and the C47 with working side door and parachutists. Or, I'd be even happier if you'd deliver on a Ju52 with prop-butt-fallschirmjager, but maybe that's asking too much of those poor OP elves....

Ok, so I'm no comedian. Sue me.

Well, Let's see....
Hmmm....
Ummm....

I know, A P-39 Airacobra,
P-63 KingCobra
Russian La-5
F4UD Corsair
P-61 Blackwidow
German Me-410
Italian Macchi 200 or 205
Russian Mig-3
I could keep going, but would be redundant of what others have said. Except for the F4U, I dont think any of the others have been suggested but would be excellent additions to SDOE.

Just an opinion,

Sabre

My P-47d is going great, but progress is slow. I might put out a beta with the Spit instrument panel so I can get the plane out faster. That way, I can continue working on the graphics stuff while people tool with the flight model. Then, by the time the FM and other technical issues are resolved, I'll be done with all the modeling and textures.

I totally agree with Deft. SDOE is screaming out for a P40,(sorry about the pun!!).Flying Tigers and Desert shark-teeth Kittyhawks...
I WANT. Also while we're on this perennial subject( I've said it before, and I'm about to say it yet again)..a Bristol Beaufighter, it would be excellent for ground attack and anti-Shipping.

Hi guys,

Couldn't we keep it in Europe? I'd like to see some of the Pacific and Japanese planes too but I think we should stick to the subject (although I'd like a buffalo which the Dutch Indonesian forces used a lot). Maybe something Russian or Italian would be nice. But there are a lots of others. How about a He 111, Do 17, Do 217, Do 335, Me 210, Beaufighter, Hurricane (is Bryan still working on that one?), P-47, P-61, etc.
But maybe we can do some other weird "can sdoe do this" plane, just like you did with the Huey. Maybe you guys could just for fun try a Harrier, or maybe something else you might think of.

Cu,
Poodle

Here is my take on the planes. We had this debate at the OPPs forum. The name of SDOE has a E for Europe.

It's no big secret that MH is working on SDOP the P is for Pacific. So why work on P issues. If people start doing a large amount of P stuff then it opens a whole can of worms that will need fixing. Why not leave the P stuff for when SDOP comes out even if it may be 2 yrs from now.

E is for Europe so lets concentrate on Europe stuff. Does adding another plane that is a Spit or 190 in disguise contribute to the sim.

Unfortunately not. The FM's were not right to begin with. So people are making copies of planes with bad FM's then the copies have to be fixed as well, propogating the problem.

Why not fix the current FM's then start making new planes. Basing them on correct FM data.

The Damage models are not accurate either. They are down right terrible. These need to be fixed as well.

The next issue is you fix the FM's of the planes to make them realistic then how do you address the bombers. Do you want to spend 40 min climbing to 20K ft?

The maps are too small they need to be enlarged. There is no question in my mind on this point the maps should be bigger. How big is the question?

In OPPs we have 45 people on the mailing list. I would say 25-30 are active at some sort of OP. When the Spit IX was done there was really only about 5 people on that project and it took just over 3 months to complete.

There are just as many people outside of OPPs doing OP but they are working as individuals. If everyone combined their strengths towards an agreed common goal we could accomplish far more in less time.

So, as Jag pointed out in an earlier post in here and he was quoting me, the last thing SDOE needs right now is another plane. There are far bigger issues that need to be addresses, in my opinion.

Thank you for this paid commerical announcement for OPPs.

Limiting developement to E for Europe goes back to limiting O for OpenPlane to N for NotEverybody. Funny that there is an interest in landing on carriers, but not the Pacific theater. S, Spitfire. This plane saw action in both theaters of war. L, Lightning. So did the venerable P-38. F, Flying Fortress. This bomber saw action from Pearl Harbor on in the Pacific theater. M, Mustang. Need I say more?

E, Exeter, this puppy was sank in the Pacific theater, shortly after the Pope was sank. P, PT boat. It gained notoriety in the Pacific theater.

Well DAMN! It looks like we have quite a few Pacific theater things in SDOE. How in the hell did that happen? Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
