OK... lets see if this part of teh fourm still works....

WEll...here goes.

I got a problem. I have a plane that is under construction, it's supposed to hit around 470 mph in level flight, but I can't get ti anywhere near it. Weights are correct, the engines power figures are right, and I have cleaned up, set and tweaked all the inertia boxes to put everything where it should. Wings are using 190foils, the tail parts are all Naca0012.

I have tried upping the prop radius, but get nowhere. I did a quick test with the engine power, and had to more than double the power figures to get the speed right.

What is wrong? Anyone know what can cause a plane to fall that far short of true speed?

I checked for stray airfoils, but there are none. I lengthened the chord of teh wign and fuse foils to make it as near right as possible, but none of this made more than a few mph difference !!!!!

HELP!

Sounds like a prop problem... look at the prop airfoil and pitch range. Also look at the propElements...

Speaking of props, does anyone know if the system requires the prop max/min pitch to have a zero in it to feather properly? Or will the system force it to zero if you tell it to feather.

The reason I ask is that most props have a very limited range of max/min pitch that is nowhere near fully feathered. Feathering these is kinda "separate", an override mode.

Perhaps we need a propFeather property?
