I am pleased to announce the creation of Groupe de Chasse III/4 (Gc III/4).

Founded on may 15th 1940 in Morocco as a reserve unit, GC III/4 originally flew the already oudated Dewoitine 510. More than 60 years ago, it is about to upgrade to the brand new Dewoitine D520 that it will proudly fly on-line against any opponent trying to invade the sky of France. (That is as soon as Pachy releases it , tks Pachy )
The GC III/4 squadron never saw action, did not get any kill or suffered any loss, so your successes will write its history.
It was disbanded after France defeat in august 1940.
We will be very pleased to welcome all the pilots who want to join us for some fun on line.

If you are interested, just reply to this post or mail me at : fmailhos@noos.fr

Cheers
Sailor GCIII/4

We could use the Traction avant (Citroën 11cv) while Pachy is finishing the D520. Couldn't we? ;^)
By the way, do you have information, photos or drawing about planes from this GC? I keep in mind that we do must have to dress the Dewoitine for the GCIII/4.
Pachy sent me some profils but there is no paintings from this GC.
If you have any, please send me them.

I'll send you tonight what's in the last issue of Aero-Journal, It's only 2 pages with a couple of De510 camo schemes. We will have to assume that the De520 would have used the same schemes.

Mission over the Somme - Abbeville

Flying over the Somme yesterday a small flight of Dewoitine 520 from Groupe de Chasse III/4 intercepted some incoming Stukas on their way to bombing the oil refinery south west of Abbeville. The german bombers were attacked by the french fighters using both their 20mm cannons and their 7.5 m machine guns, causing heavy damages to the nazi invaders.
Although hafing taken some hits, both planes safely returned to their base.

Pic 4 : Clostermann over the oil refinery after the attack

Later during the day, a routine patrol from GC III/4 encountered several Me109 and in spite of a fierce resistance, two pilots were hit and forced to parachute themselves. Landing behind allies lines their were able to return to their base after a quick medical examination confirmed they were OK.

When do you guys fly online? I might have to come give you some live opposition.

I was going to give the D.520 a try with Himdog last weekend, but we got version mismatches. Where can we get the file?
