Hello all! I'd just like to announce my site, RAF Harkness. It is full of schemes for British aircraft in SDOE and few other odds and ends. I have recently upgraded it to cover aircraft in PP6. I'm new to this so if there are any problems with it, please let me know. Thanks.

Just visited your site and I must say that all your schemes look awesome and the GUI additions are some great ideas (especially the smaller mission editor icons)

Many thanks to all! Any future modifications or additions will employ the correct fonts for the coding thanks to AGAS-5 letting me know where to find them for download.

Thanks for the kind words! I just wanted to let everyone know that I have just updated RAF Harkness slightly. I have:

- Fixed the "Wavy" Manc.tif file to match the picture. The old TIF made the engines all black.

- Divied up some of the Spitfire schemes based on some Spitfire variations I have found here on the FSIC Messageboard.

- Staying with Spitfires, I have fixed a strange "lip" on the under-port side engine of several Spitfire schemes. The new TIFs should be devoid of this defect.

- Added a Martlet (F4F4 Wildcat) scheme in the Royal Navy section and 824 Squadron, Royal Navy to the GUI Modifications section to go with it.

- Changed/added some loadout.ppf files (for the F4F4 just mentioned for instance) in the GUI Modifications section.

Enjoy!

Absolutely great skins, with very interesting research.

But... I think it would be a better idea to pack the skins in ZIPs, than to put them in different folders on your site. When I download, I use to put everything in the same folder so I had your skins overwriting each other. And the Corsair schemes could be downloaded in a single operation. Yeah, I know, I'm too lazy to click twice and manually rename each file

Also about the Martlet, you need to include one more TIF so the canopy frames can be painted consistently with the rest of aircraft. As an example, check the skin at my site (link below)

Thanks for sharing!

Ooops I've just open your Martlet skin and obviously you already had a look at my site!

That color scheme is from http://www.faasig.org anyway !

BTW, I read somewhere all planes during Torch had a yellow stripe around the "americanized" roundel. (like this for example. Do you know if that scheme is incorrect?

I debated long and hard about packing them together as self-extracting ZIPs and actually did it at first, but some people had some difficulties early on with downloading them, so I went the safe route with the TIFs. I'll reconsider though. It would certainly benefit the Corsair, Beaufighters, and Martlet (when I fix it).

About Operation Torch, the info I have is sparse, but the clearest statement I have is from page 115 of Flying Colors by William Green and Gordon Swanborough which says of the yellow surround in describing an SBD at the time of Torch, that it "was carried by all US Navy aircraft participating in operations against French North Africa." Later in the same book, in the same spread with the Martlet I based my modification of the scheme on, they picture two Torch F4Fs, one American with the yellow, and the Americanized HMS Formidable one without the yellow. Clearly, these authors concluded that only USN aircraft carried the yellow surround. Hope this helps!
