Remember the inspiring "Spirit of Justice" statue at the Depatment of Justice seen towering triumphantly in many attorney general newsconferences past and present? One problem though. One of her breasts is exposed, so the Ashcroft crowd is spending $8000 dollars on curtains to hide it! Talk about prudery!! Art means nothing to the puritanical crowd! It's mind control no matter how you disect it and we Americans just sit around and let it happen. Makes me puke!! Any of you conservatives want to defend this exercise in this puritanical hang-ups over substance crap? What I can't understand is why they just don't sculp on some more clothes like they painted garments on to many of Micaelangelo's masterpieces so long ago. I don't know Lothar. Why do Democrats favor blow jobs in the Oval Office and Contempt of Court by a President? Same kind of stupid question as yours. I guess it's a matter of what side of the values spectrum you fall. I agree covering up the statue is dumb. Just move the press conference site if it embarrasses him. What's so cleaver? No one ever said that political correctnes is the exclusive domain of the left. I'm not sure that "modesty", even when unreasonable, is truely "political correctness" anyway. There is no political message in modesty. No identifiable "group" was offended by the statue, just and individual or individuals who had the power to change it. No identifiable "group" will have it's image enhanced by changing the statue. No twisting of facts is taking place by covering the statue. Censorship, maybe, but not political correctness. It's strickly a matter of individual taste. Ashcroft didn't want his picture taken all the time with brass boobs behind him. IP: Logged |
