has 100 members and I think the house is
like 535 so which republicans sat the fence
and either didn't vote or were absent?

I think that someone dissented is a testement to the democratic way of life. Even in these extrordinary times, it is good to be reminded of just what it is we hold dear. In a police state such as Iraq, such dissent, if anyone was brave enough to engage in it, would see them end up in jail or worse. I see it as a sign of hope that we can still have reasoned debate and that some can dissent, even though I may completely disagree with them. In the end, the capacity to dissent without fear of losing one's freedom or even life is what democracy stands for.

I agree with 3dp, atleast this person put his mark down, he had the balls to disagree, rather then the others that didn't vote, if you agree you vote, if you don't agree and have no balls you don't vote.

Don't forget, the one that voted against might not agree with the actions that can now be taken, but not be against taking action, when you just see a vote count you have no idea what he had in mind.
