We should all hope that no more attacks occur in the next week.

I suspect the finger is on the Nuclear Trigger, and that concurrences probably have been sought for the relevant governments. Any more attacks in the next week, and the will to restrain the nuclear measure will be severely diminished.

We all know that the situation will be worse in the future, not better. More attacks, not fewer. The devotion of the Islamic followers is on the same order as the Japanese public to their Emperor.

Only nuclear weapons ended the war in the Pacific.

It is probably thought that nuclear weapons may be the only way to win this war.

MAKE NO MISTAKE. If Richard Milhous Nixon were president today, the nuclear arsenal would have already been used.

It is now the job of any capable citizen to attack people who have hijacked a plane. To use any available means to destroy hijackers' ability to control a plane (bus, truck, train, ship, car). Only through this effort will plane attacks be halted (foreign, and domestic).

It may be the job of every citizen to perform surveillance on Muslims, and to report suspicious behavior.

Welcome to the end of our freedoms.

Todesvogel,

While I don't think we need to automatically view with distrust every muslim, like we didn't need to do that to every Japanese American in WWII,

You said something very important, critically important, in that we need to be prepared to take back any airliner a terrorist tries to take. They only, perhaps, had plastic knives (one is sold for those who look for such that is made to be a weapon, not a butterknife, and plastic to evade airport detection ON PURPOSE). Surely, they will hold that knife to a hostage's throat. Do we let them maintain control of the airplane, or do we sacrifice the hostage?

Now, that's cold and brutal, but if we don't think about that in advance, we might not be ready to save everyone else on the plane. Folks that tried to take back the plane over Pennsylvania may have saved hundreds, let alone Camp David, or as they're saying now, the White House or Capitol.

Thanks for bringing that up.

V/R,

Chaps

In a way I disagree Tode, I know that we'll never bring an end to terrorism, but lets be honest, there are very few terrorist groups that could carry out large scale attacks, I think killing off Bin Ladin and his group of top men around him will mean a stop to large attacks like this one, and then better intelligence and home security in the future will mean there will problably be no more large attacks, you'll never stop the car bomb, but thats a price we have to live with, but I think if you kill of the leaders, the gun men don't have that co-ordination.

So, I actualy think that overall, things will get better in the future, once the US and NATO have taken action, it wont stop it, but it will make things better.

On another point... the Empire state building has been evacutaed tonight after a bomb was detected, it doesn't seem to be a mistake, so lets home for a good conclusion to this one, the building has been cleared though.

Israel has taken the approach of killing off the leaders of terrorists and their supporters and all it's gotten them from the world community is a lot of grief! They are being called "assasins" and "murderers" by almost everyone. Even the US government has condemned it - at least publicly. That may change now, I hope so. I think it's brilliant! Cut off the head and the snake dies.

2 things

some people are pointing towards Iraq, it may not be OBL that lead this attack, or if it is it may be Iraq behind him and NOT the afgans.

One of OBLs people stated before this happened that something like this would happen, and said that because of the 1998 cruise missle attack on OBL strongholds and such. Its possible that this is retrobution for that attack , and there is no reason to think that there won't be more if there is just more bombs sent in.

Please note that none of the above means that I think the US shouldn't seek out and punish those responsible.

I'm just stating stuff I saw on the news tonight.

There is some dark stuff being suggested here. I'm as shocked as the rest here and feel for the victims as much as anybody but some old style hate is rearing its ugly head. Put Muslim people under surveillance? Why not put Southern skinheads under surveillance too? Maybe you could design a badge toad.

Jerry, your not fighting a snake, your fighting a movment. Just cause you kill OBL doesn't mean the problem will go away. More people will step up to take over, and they will be pissed.

You have to change the reasons why these people hate the US.

"hate is rearing its ugly head"

Hate reared it's head when 255 innocent people were used as weapons to kill thousands of people.

Bad things happen in war.

Of course you're right Dan, but we can't condemn an entire religion for the actions of a few fanatics...especially people who are US citizens. We can't stop our anger but we can control what we do with it and who it is aimed at. Domestic surveilance of all Muslins is out of the question. I think you know that.

Yes I understand that and would not wish surviellance on anyone. After all, this is a free country.

But I'm getting tired of hearing the words 'hate' pointed at people expressing their opinions.

I respect your worries about my supposed hate speech.

I don't wish to express hate.

I wish people to stay alert, have a contingency plan at all times, and to be aware of the actions of those around them.

This is the advice that was provided the public during WWII.

However, a group of people have expressed a unified hate for Americans that goes way beyond the old USSR / West animosity and posturing.

We are in a hot war. Please accept this.

I look to the Jewish experience in WWII for guidance. The Jewish people (who are just people who happen to be Jewish) didn't have a strong leader to empower their self-defense or escape. Lack of leadership, or perhaps, a lack of a strong central leadership, allowed the Nazi to do as they wished.

We must not adopt this same response, or our fait will be the same.

I am here to provide some thoughts. Please reject them if they are not to your liking.

If you are on a hijacked plane tomorrow, the likelihood that plane will be shot down by the USAF, before it is able to do damage to a high-value target, is high. Please understand, your only chance may be to take back the plane. I believe every pilot should announce to the traveling public that, in the event of a hijacking, it is the duty of every passenger to overwhelm the hijackers.

If possible, don't become like a Jewish person trapped in a boxcar heading to liquidation. Act as soon as possible.

I may be wrong, please indicate this. (I'm not trolling).

Every American must take an active part in the defense of their country. It can not be someone else's problem, there aren't enough "someone else".

Do not start beeting Muslims!!! This would be worse than doing nothing. We need to avoid internal strife. Hitler’s greatest mistake was to make the Jewish people the enemy. A country needs the enthusiastic help of every member of society to defeat the enemy.

It is impossible for me to be politically correct on this issue.

That is a fair comment.

We'll see what happens. Hopefully the situation won't evolve in a way that forces you to change you mind about those badges.

I have some hate and anger in my heart. I am spreading it in my unfortunate words, I am sorry.

I just don't think this is a joke. Lots of americans just want to cry. Take responsiblity for the future, and we won't have anytyhing to cry about (both us and the families of the Muslims).

I think the young guys don't realize that we could be in a Nuclear War tomorrow. And how bad this would be.
