You're right, our state governor in Ill. suspended all executions to investigate the process to insure it was being carried out accurately. Beyond that governors can completely pardon a person. Usually a stay of execution comes from a court. IP: Logged
mikado282 Cadet	posted 05-27- 03:13 PM McVeigh was convicted in a Federal Court and sentenced to death based on Federal capital punishment guidelines. A stay of execution can be issued by a Federal Judge, Supreme Court Justice / Justices or the US Attorney General. IP: Logged
