It looks like Trent Lott has pissed of Sen.
Jeffers a republican from Vermont. Jeffers
is switching parties. This gives control of
the Senate to the democrats. No more Lott as
majority leader, also goodbye to Helms and
that scumbag Hatch as chairmen of some
important commities. Too bad we can't get
rid of Army and DeLay as easy over in the
House.

I predict that he won't leave the Republican party. They're going to offer him just about anything to get him to stay.

In any case, I kind of hope he doesn't leave the Republicans... I think people need to see the inevitable trainwreck that awaits them at the end of 4 years of Republican controlled government.

Either way the Senate will be more moderate.
I think (hope) we can say goodbye to appointing
more extremists to the supreme court.

There's not much to talk about Smokey.... in the last few years there have been several Dems who have jumped ship to join the Reps. So what if a Rep does the same? I notice you did not mention that there is a Dem Senator (his name escapes me right now - been a long day) who is also on the fence adn about to jump over to the Rep camp. Until something actually happens one way or the other there isn't much to talk about.

According to Jeffers his switch has nothing to do with how he has been treated by the Republicans, that it is entirely due to ideological differences. Is he a liar too Smokey?

It's Jeffords. Believe me Jerry, I'm the last
person you want to take your spelling que from.

He switched because those in control of the
republican party are right-wing extremists.
He's not a liar because this is true.

I believe he is also switching because of the
treatment by republicans. This guy has practically
been black-balled since his non-support of
the original Bush tax cut. He's just gracious
enough to not be pointing fingers right now.
