From what you can tell so far, who do you think history will remember as a better president -- the current president, George W. Bush, or former President Bill Clinton?

George W. Bush 41%
Bill Clinton 50
Sampling error: +/-5% pts

Do you think big business does or does not have too much influence over the decisions made by the Bush administration?

Yes 63%
No 30
Sampling error: +/-3% pts

Imagine that...

ROFL!!!

I note that the same question about business was not applied to BC.
And the accuracy of asking if someone is doing a good job after just over 100 days is rather questionable. I bet that number is up since the china thing too.
Of course, I wonder what the same poll asking between carter and clinton would be. Now THAT's a poll.

1. A president bought and paid for by
corporate America. Government of the corporations,
by the corporations and for the corporations.

2. Stock market crashed. People's retirement
portfolios decimated.

3. Gas prices skyrocketing and predicted to
go higher.

4. Slowing economy probably followed by
higher unemployment.

5. Not a damn thing being done about the
above.

Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?

LOL indeed!!!

And do you honestly believe that this is because of one person in barely more then 100 days?
We were losing soldiers hand over fist in somalia when bc took over... remember that?
Bill clinton was bought and paid for by the unions and socialist camp.... that is better somehow?
Stock market crashed last year, peoples retirement portfolio's decimated... while bill was in office. They made a new law that said the (excuse my lack of terminology here, been a long week) guy who runs the stock market can close it when it drops more than 200 points in a day. Under BC.
Computer RAM prices tripled in 1995.
California's home prices spiked higher than ever before then crashed, then spiked again. Wiping out many land investors.
What is the point Smokey? I can find just as many nasty things that happened in BC's time then you can.
Of course, all of this would have happened under Gore, so we could have blamed him too...

Mirth,
You sound like a 401k man to me since you
would shun a union pension or anything that
resembles it. Are you better off than you
were 4 years ago?

Bill Clinton is gone. Get over him. What is
happening is happening now, under Bush and
a republican controled congress. Don't ask
me why it is but when republicans are in
charge everything takes a shit. It's not
the first time and unfortunately it probably
won't be the last.

Smokey, my point was lost on you again. The current situation is the legacy of BC. Somalia was the legacy of Bush Sr. Those are the facts, stop trying to say it isn't. Congress hasn't been in long enough to do anything. Anything they vote on now won't go into effect until July 1 at the earliest, and Sept. 1 would be more likely. So what we are seeing is the end of Bill.....
And what the current administration does with this is how they will be seen. Just as bill showed his own lack of understanding of the military during somalia.... This is the Bush admin's chance to stabilize this and make sure it doesn't get worse.... This will take time, and just like I said before, I didn't like bill, but I gave him the chance to show his true colors, I would request you do the same.
And yes, I am better off than I was 4 years ago... and it had nothing to do with BC. At all. And if you think that you are better off then you were 4 years ago, then you should be thanking the republicans that made those changes. Because BC didn't do or make a single policy change that had any impact on this country. And noone has proven otherwise.
Yes, BC is gone, thank god, now lets get the mess he created out of here and get this country going again.
;-p
Heh

I can see it now. 2 years down the road.
The economy is in a mess with 7% unemployment.
Were in a cold war with China. Gas at 4 bucks
a gallon. Stock market still crashed. Congress
still trying to give the rich some kind of
tax cut. It'll be "That god damn Bill
Clinton. Wish we could have gotten him out
of there sooner things wouldn't be so fucked
up."

Smokey,

If the stock market is still down two years from now there won't be any rich people left to give a tax break to. Of course, there won't be any Union pensions either since that's where they are invested...so I guess you'll be on the bread line too. See you there.

Gas at $4.00/gal is still cheaper than most of the world pays now. Just sell your SUV and you'll be OK.

A cold war with China is preferable to them buying a President like they did with Clinton.

I guess I must have made sense... smokey gave his normal red herring post..... says nothing but somehow vilifies his stance.... oh well.... You almost had the right idea smokey in another post... but you obviously forgot what I was saying.... and worst of all... you still believe that gore wouldn't have pushed social reforms to the point we lost our freedoms because of your need for security.
I guess the union has so fucked up your mind you don't even know if you are coming or going anymore.
Too bad.....

LOL

I know eh Dan, and 90% the of the responces were by 2 people LOL.

I thought this thread would go balistic (yes I know thats spelt wrong, its 5 in the morning here LOL )

I agree with mirth smokey, its too early to actually blame any of those problems on the present man in charge, I know up here we have had high gas prices for quite a while, And I think you have had high prices about the same length of time.

Mirth I gotta ask though, is Bush doing anything about those problems?

100 days in office or not, when do you officialy say that he has started work?

I wish we could hire and fire polititions like regular employees,

"Show me results or your fired"

Workers of the world unite-You have nothing to lose but your chains (and maybe a little freedom, but, what the hell).
In response to the poll:
neither bc nor gwb are doing anything. I don't believe either are running the country.
Its a conspiracy worst than what is seen on the x-files. I want to believe,but..........

Hey Smokey, WTF is it that you smoke anyway... You may remember that things started going south BEFORE GB was in office. Just as things started to get better BEFORE Clinton took office. The economy is a huge ponderous beast. The ammount of time/effort it tages it to move is proportinately huge. But GB did it even before sworn in! I didnt know he had such power... Nah, I didn't think you were that stupid.

I remember laughing when polls came out on GB's father. People saying he didn't spend enough time running the country. Read the constitution man. The Presidents job is foreign affairs. What happens here at home is done by the congress...
