Frankly I do not care if anyone see this or not. First lets start with newbie.. it is such a bad term what is wrong with Begginer you all too high and might to use it and put down others that you need to use it everywhere. and I show to try and play on the network and am told to go to newbie night. 7;30 PM GMT. That means 12:00PM MST my time on Sunday... would be ok if i did not have something called church to go too. We will forget the moment i am a minister with obligations on Sunday. So i have been excluded from being able to play on the network with you becuase i am not good enough for you. oh and why do I not host my own missions then. I would but i get tired of hearing people Complaining that my machine is too slow becuase it is only a 233 MHZ and jsut runs at Half speed and no one else likes it. Wee gee forgive me for not having the money to Buy a Brand new computer. Forget that I live on limited pay becuase of what I feel i should do. Maybe I should charge people for my Counciling that I offer. Hell wanted to just blow off a little steam from people complaining all day and doing nothing about it. and the AI is not always a big enough challenge. But no I will wait till I have more money to Buy another computer to Fix things so I can run fast enough to play with you all. you all can really suck sometimes. gee forget i thought I might be able to forget for a while about things myself. Some of you have been nice but some of you shoudl get off your high horse before you break your neck when you fall off. IP: Logged |

A well made point Starfire. I think "Newbie" is a term that just became vogue on the internet and has become trite now. As for the time of a "Newbie Night" it was probably just a time picked by the originators of the concept. If there is anothertime that fits your schedule, I'd like to try to accomodate you. I haven't noticed your pc speed to be too slow the few flights we've have flown together. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I'm also a "newbie". I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game. Time will be 1:30pm CST so its not a problem for me now, but my schedule does change from week to week. Starfire, I can appreciate your dillema and hope it works out for you in the future. I'll probably need a session or two or three or...more as a "newbie". IP: Logged |

Starfire, I have been following this sim and this board for over two years now. If what you say happened, that you were told to leave a lobby or a mission because you were a newbie, then I am really surprised. Over the last two years there have been dozens of, if not a hundred or more, posts by newbies who have been very grateful for the help they received. Your complaint is very rare. I can think of only one or two like it and those were early on when we had a lot of "visitors" on line and not the hard core group that flies now. I can't speak from personal experience because I fly offline, but I can read what everyone posts and 99% of the time the online experience is a good one. Please don't think that your experience is typical and swear off flying with these guys. It's a great group. The fact that they even set up a newbie night is an indication of how helpful they are. It's unfortunate that it conflicts with your ministerial duties but I think the guys setting this up are in Europe and so are building it around their time zone. By the way, the term "newbie" is not derogatory. It's just flight sim jargon. It just means beginner and is just as innocent a term. It probably evolved because most of these guys can't spell beginer...beginnar...begener....whatever. When I get my new system and have the horsepower to fly online, and the disk space to have both an online and offline version of SDOE maybe I'll run into you (literally LOL). IP: Logged |

Wow Starfire, That does not sound like the SDOE I know- but I have not been able to get time to go online for months now. I guess I will be a "newbie" again too. I would say to try again, maybe you fell in with some bad sorts- there really shoold be very few bad sorts in SDOE... I wish you better luck next time. Maybe you will fly with my, I have flown since the first day this game came out, and I still get shot down eb every time IP: Logged |

Starfire, I was there today and hope I didn't come across as rude. Unfortunately, the Saturday afternnon time slot ( USA ) for the squad wars coincides with the 'newbie' time slot, and the squads use a 'extra' add on ( Spoonman's Machine Gun Loadouts ) that will cause mismatches with anyone who doesn't have it. If you are new to SDOE online, it is best to stick to PP 6 and Nations 2 until you feel comfortable with SDOE's file structure and changing certain files in and out. Sundays, from about noon California time onward, there is generally lots of activity at California 12 lobby. It is standard PP6 and N2, I believe, and you should be able to get into games most any time during the day. JG3 is usually very much in evidence, and a better group of pilots and people you will never meet. Once you get used to it, you are welcome to add Spoon's loadouts and join in on Saturdays. It is a small file, quick download, and easy to install, but you really need 2 aircraft folders, so that you can have one standard and one with loadouts. You just rename them as needed. If anything I said or did was inappropriate, please accept my apologies. It was not intentional, but meant to spare you the frustration of trying to learn something new in a short period of time. ------------------ IP: Logged |
