What sort of Airplane would MS Windows be?

What sort of airplane would the Mac be?

What sort of airplane would Linux be?

Spanky here...

Well I can't name any planes as i don't study peices of crap that often.

But the windows plane would crash alot.

And would not be compatible with some parts that come from the same builder as the plane itself.

Spanky, I think you are describing that collapsing-venitian-blind plane that you always see in the "bloopers of early aviation" montages.

The Windows plane would be a stealth jumbo jet that could also perform high-G air to air combat, land on carriers, be very inexpensive and anyone could fly it....in other words it probably wouldn't do all these things as well as an airplane dedicated to just one purpose and it wouldn't make anyone totally happy and it would probably crash too often because it tries to be all things to all people.

Windows:

It would be the latest sleek looking and thundering fighter plane, with WWI style wiring to hold the structure together.

Windows NT/2000:

The wiring is replaced by steel tubing, but the fighting capabilities are lost due to guns incompatibility and added weight.

Linux:

An excellent cargo plane, if you know how to fly it. For example, rolling the plane requires 20 switches to be toggled and three levers to be pulled. Luckily it won't crash even after severe pilot errors.

Mac:

A dream fighter plane; nimble, powerful, fast. Too bad all of these adjectives apply only if measured by WWII standards.

Windows......Koncordski

Someones idea of a good plane....right up to the point where to try to fly it.......

Then the customers pay the price when it crashes.

At least they scrapped Koncordski when they knew it was crap...

Hehe...

If Windows were a WWII plane (specifically), I'd say it would be a p-38. Not a bear to fly, sometimes beautiful when it works; however, given a bit of bad luck a critical piece will fall off in a fire fight(glass tail) and you'll go to hell in a handbasket.

Windows NT would be a b17. A big, lumbering workhorse that even though most everyone thinks it's a fortress, but all it really takes is one asshole to bring the whole house of cards down.

Linux would be a me262. Great, but not widespread enough and late for the show.

Ok,

Win98: Mosquito. a great workhorse, but slowed down and less reliable due to being built of old materials (wood).

Win2k: B17. long range, stable, and can take a ton of damage and keep going. Well defended and very versital.

Linux: A bullet. simple, fast, reliable, but has a very limited use - especially without a gun

LOL ArgonV!

Just some personal stats:

I need to rebuild my Win98 machine every four months or it dies.

My Win2k server for schoolmusic.com has been up since win2k came out, only one reboot to upgrade from one to two processors. Before that, my WinNT server was up for a year and half with a few reboots for upgrades and a couple reboots when it tied after making a setting change to the web server.

In addition to serving the site and taking orders, it does allot of batch FTP work and backup work each day.

Win2k is a big improvement over NT, at least as far as web and data services go.

Every 4 months? Whoa that sucks! The last I had to rebuild part of Win98 was when I wanted to go back to DX7a... But then I found out that wasnt the problem and went to DX8 again! DOH! The time before that wasnt a rebuild really... I just had to move Win98 from one hard drive to another cause I was upgrading. My Win98 system is pretty stable. It has its quirks... but thats only after Ive opened too many folders or webpages in one sitting (A Win98 Explorer and iExplorer bug...)

If Windows were a modern airplane (Jet), Id shoot it down with every SAM in the country... and then pick up its remains and scatter them all over Roswell. If Windows were a WWI airplane, Id set a match to it and not give its pilot a parachute. If Windows were one of those alien flying saucers, Id have repect for it as something that technological deserves my respect... but since thats NOT going to happen forget what I just typed.

If windows were a WW2 airplane, I'd destroy them all when we finaly liberate the industry, as they truly possess evil and malignant power.

Sv, if it's any consolation, I used to have to rebuild mine every 3-4 months before I got SystemSuite 2000. That stretched out to every 6 months. I described my setup to 3 different IT managers, and they were surprised it even lasted 3 months!

So- Win98 would be an old Harley with wings. It always needs tweeking, and rebuilding of the engine every so often. If it dies it can be a bitch to restart and every so often it won't start without an overhaul. It's fans are loyal and don't care how much effort or money in aftermarket parts it takes to keep it running. Every once in a while, for no apparent reason, the steering would lock up and you'd have to shut the engine off and restart in order get steering back. (If you don't crash so hard you have to rebuild the plane)

Linux- This is the P-47. Designed for a specific task originally, it's scope of use keeps growing. It seems almost bulletproof once setup properly. It keeps its user safe and will always get you there and back. it's not glamorous, but there's an incredible amount of horsepower under the hood.

Mac- A P-51 or Spitfire, but only a mechanic with a lisence from Supermarine or Noth American can get into the moving parts andcontrols to make alterations.

WinNT & 2000- A B-17 missing half of it's guns. The weaknesses only show up in really close quarters

I think Windows would be a GeeBee, box may look sleek but not many people lived through one.
