Yanked from CNN.com

"• Even though their campaigns are over, both Bush and Gore continue to raise money -- for Florida recount expenses. According to figures supplied by the candidates, Bush has raised $7.4 million, helped by the same benefactors that enabled him to raise a record $100 million for his presidential campaign. Gore has taken in $3.5 million to pay his recount expenses."

Hmm....someone wants this Bush clown to win really, really bad. And they have a lot of money. I wonder why?

"• A federal judge in Pensacola, Florida, is considering arguments in a case brought by Republicans asking that hundreds of rejected overseas ballots, mostly from military personnel, be counted. Attorneys for Republicans asked U.S. District Judge Lacey Collier to declare the ballots valid even if they are undated, lacked postmarks or were postmarked in the United States."

Hmm...postmarked in the US? Who would do such a thing? Makes you wonder. Oh yeah..according to Curious George supporters, if you are too stupid to push through a punch card, your vote doesn't count. How come messed up overseas ballots should be looked at in different light? Hmmm...

"Bush warned potential U.S. adversaries against trying to take advantage of the election uncertainty to attack U.S. interests abroad. "I have all the confidence in the world that the Clinton administration and the next administration, which I hope is the Bush administration, will do whatever it takes to send a chilling signal to terrorists that we will protect our property and our people," Bush said."

The one really cool thing about Republicans...they won't hesitate to blow shit up.

"• In written arguments filed Wednesday, attorneys for Gore asked the Florida Supreme Court to set aside Bush's certified victory in the state and allow more counting of disputed ballots to settle the "fundamental question" of which candidate got more votes."

Huh? Fundamental question - who got da' most votes? Fundamental answer - The Texas Cocaine Hound....even if he had to cheat just a tad bit. We're almost certain Al and crew trucked in bums and convicts to vote for Pat B..I mean, Al Gore. Dammit, wrong hole.

"Also, the Florida Conference of Black State Legislators called Wednesday for new legislation to "stop the disenfranchising" of minority voters"

I don't get this one...

"Rep. Corrine Brown, D-Florida, along with other black Jacksonville-area politicians and the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, is suing the Duval County canvassing board, claiming the county used a confusing ballot and turned away blacks from the polls who did not have a voter identification card or photo ID."

Huh? How are you supposed to vote with no ID. Any moron could go vote twice or they could not even be a US citizen and vote. Confusing ballot...well, hey...umm..you know.

"The Justice Department has dispatched two attorneys from the civil rights division to Florida to help assess allegations that voting irregularities adversely affected African-Americans, in possible violation of federal laws."

Hmm..don't get this one either. The ballots were written in English, so I don't know how you can get that confused over it.

"• Federal officials have shown no sign they intend to open an investigation into possible civil rights violations in the Florida general election, "

Ah, the sweet smell of common sense.

This election is making both sides look pretty silly at times. It's like, you want the Harvard (MIA for 18 months) Flyboy to win...but Al just won't quit. Each day something new happens and both sides get caught cheating (or being accused of cheating). Now it looks like ol' Jebby Bush and his cohorts in the Florida legistlature are gonna step in appoint the electors themselves. I guess I would too if it were my brother that was in that kinda predicament. I wonder if he helped Dubbya post bail when he was tagged for his DUI?

Oh well. I wonder how George Sr. is taking this? He was on TV at the UT/A&M game (for you non-Texans, it's about the equivalent of the Superbowl)

He probably said, "Dammit son..that intern-fucking, cigar smoking panzy ass from ArKansas beat me after only one term. I mean, we had a sweet as recession going and that bastard had to ruin it by getting elected and turning the economy around. Now get in there and whip that panty-waste Al Gore's ass. I mean, I live in Houston and I love this shitty, ozone infested air. Don't let that tree-hugger win. Asshole didn't create the internet and he knows it. Get in there and FIGHT!"

Might be silly, but one issue isn't.

Messed up oversea's ballots aren't messed up. Gore is.

Sometimes a bunch of mailbags will be thrown on a plane headed for the US from a carrier. The plane lands, the bags are unloaded and dropped off at the closest post office. The post office puts a postmark on them since they are letters from the military and they know military mail doesn't always get handled through "normal channels".

I've even seen letters from someone in the military delivered with no postmark, but the post office doesn't make a fuss cuz it's been sent by one of "our servicemen".

Gore's a pinhead for demanding the ballots be thrown out. This is the first time ANY candidate has tried to get the military votes thrown out. Why? because he'll lose if they aren't.

I've been in those guys shoes, and they CAN'T raise hell because of military policy. Someone ought to stuff Gore's "I want every vote counted" lying mouth full of chads, stick his head in the toilet and flush for 5 minutes. (I can dream can't I)

JT, I hope to God that you're wrong. If Bush and his people are as slimmy as the Clinton/Gore people this country may not recover.

Looks like Bush has got it made ( from what BBC tell me). I'm bemused. Its amazing how much clout US politics have on the rest of us. I heard the media wouldn't even allow the lesser parties to participate in the the public forums. Is this right? Educate me.

Yep. Only the Dems and Republicans were allowed to debate. Ralph Nader was turned away at the door.

And they say the media is liberal...LOL

I guess both parties didn't want another Ross Perot fiasco this time around and wanted to exclude the Green Party. I bet George Sr. is still pissed about Perot.

It was Dan Quayle who couldn't spell potatoe. Gore can't spell Q-U-I-T.

Yes we know about Irish/UK politics. Over here we call it "diversity" where you are supposed to emphasise each person's differences, rather than subordinate them for the common good. You guys just carry it to an exteme.

What did Gore do? Haven't you heard? He invented the internet. If you don't believe me, ask him.
