I hate be bopping along, in a formation of 5 B-17's with the new DM, the flak being off over the target, and the fighter opposition is off playing with the escorts, and not a single bomber bothers to drop on the target. No matter what I put on the target and set as the target. They open their bomb doors, but only one drops. Another thing that sucks is that all the AAA targets one bomber irrigardless if they are individual units or not. It is stinks so bad to be 'it' when none of the other bombers has a scratch and you get taken out in 1 minute or less, just like a Domino's pizza. On top of that, the interceptors, what is this BS with them flying under a bomber formation? They just zip past the formation and hang around underneath it like nothings doing and they all die like clay pigeons. Where is the tactics that I've read about? You now, the boom and zoom attacks? What is this park at the bomber's 6 and fire away until one of them dies (usually the attacker)? It takes some of the heart out of the game to see those things emerge. I also noticed that when the AI escort gets pulled low and there are some trucks the heavies are supposed to bomb, that the escorts go after them, ignoring the enemy fighters trying to do shoot the escorts down. The ground usually eats most of them. Gratuitous bombing missions. There are what? 6? Total? In the entire game? I fly mainly bombers, but I'll be danged if I feel like hacking out a mission in order to fly one. The included 6 only has 1 or 2 that are worth their salt to fly (B17 Attack - plane pack mission?) is one of them. It takes me about 30 minutes to hash together a semi-fun mission, you know, one where the tatistical average or so of the bombers are shot down by flak. SDOE is like herpes, you think you are over SDOE and a new rash breaks out after a month or so, so you have to start feeding the urge again. PMS Avenger? Kind of like that. Between Warcraft II, AOE II, SDOE, and the occasional bout with some of my new games I bought, all my time gets eaten. I only get about 2 hours to work on my new projects. Such a shame, too.. like herpes, there is no cure. IP: Logged |
