Ok this week was a damn tough mission. It was the "U-Boat Hunt" mission by Jeeves and modified by Condor. And thanks to the very realistic damage model for the P47, I did not do very well 
That damn engine catches fire now when it gets hit! And pieces of the wings fall off too now!Ok, in King of the Hill you get 5 runs of the same mission. Lets just say the first 4 runs were not my better ones.
So there I was on my last mission trying to score some badly needed points. At 7000 feet I spot my target(2 German U-Boats) 5 miles ahead and heading for the allied convoy I am supposed to be protecting.
I arm my rockets and set them to single fire. This will give me 3 shots at 2 subs, I should be fine. Diving on the subs at 1000 feet I take my first shot and miss the first sub($%%^). I then quickly take my second shot at the second sub and miss again!!!!(*&^*^^). This has never happened in the first 4 missions. I am in trouble now.
There is no time to try for the subs now, I have to go after the JU88A4 heading for the allied convoy. It figures my 2 AI P47's with me decide to go for a swim so I am all alone against a well armed JU88. And the P47 I am in now has a realistic damage model!
Here I go in on the JU88. I take shots from far away and try to avoid the JU88 gunners. They hit me some but I manage to get the JU88 before in drops its bombs on my convoy! It is a miracle I am still flying.
Ok, time to go back for the subs. I dive on the first sub and line up to take my last rocket shot. I fire but as I do the plane jolts up. I missed! Elevator control doesn't seem right. I get the outside view and you guessed it, either the JU88 or the gunner on a sub took out my right side elevator.
Ok I fly around a little bit to get used to how the P47 will handle now. I have to get those subs, I need the points! I dive on them and gun the first sub. I get as low as 200 feet and pull up quickly. Bad move, I am upside down immediately and heading for the drink! Full left rudder and aeleron! Somehow I pull out of it. Heart rate is 1000 bps now.
Still desparate for points I dive on sub one again. I get it smoking on this pass. 2 more passes and 2 more lucky pull outs and I sink it!
Now sub 2 is still just sitting there. My ammo is low and 2 FW190's are still out there looking for me. I go after sub 2. I get it smoking in 2 passes. I only have enough ammo for one more pass. I have to make it count! I dive from 2500 feet and pray. I pull the trigger, the bullets are dead on target, the sub goes down!, I am at 100 feet and in deep sh*t. I pull up and instantly go inverted again. I swear my wing tip got damp as I gave it full left rudder and aeleron!
I made it but now I have to get home. Do I try for a landing to get the points and risk crashing which would cost me more points? Hell yes I am going for it.
On approach now and bobbing like a rowboat in a hurricane!! 100 feet ease off the trottle, gear and flaps down, 10 feet, about to stall, give it throttle, too late I bounced on the runway. I pray the gear holds out. Cut the trottle, hit the brakes, still bouncing but slowing, over on the right wing tip now, full brakes and she settles! Get me the hell out of here. Damn this was one tough mission.
