I broke down and bought EAW because I wanted to see what los of planes were like in a flight sim.

Interesting though, Withe teh realism set about midway in SDOE it's work for me to down another fighter. In EAW I was flying with the settings set so they were equivalent to SDOE and I shot down a 109 and TEN He-111's in one mission.

I have to admit the SDOE AI pilots are a lot more of a challenge than the EAW ones.

The AI pilots in SDOE are great because they fly like people.. sometimes they shoot down everything in sight, sometimes they crash into each other chasing a target. In EAW it's always split-S split-S split-S and at ground level they slow down to try to force you to overshoot. booooring. Best thing is SDOE pilots dont cheat.. the enemy planes in EAW do bizarre things like a bomber with three engines out can turn fight like crazy. Or when the player gets shot and is smoking his engine is sure to die but the AI can fly his plane like that all the way back to germany.

There are many things that I really like about EAW. Particulary I like the way it feels... well BIG! It does a good job at making you feel that you are a small part of a bigger picture.

But the bubble gets burst for me in two specific areas.

1) The lack of moving control surfaces when your looking out of the cockpit during manuevers.

and my biggest gripe...

2) I bugs me to look over my shoulder and see an enemy fighter tooling along totaly ignoring opportunities to gain a firing position on me as though my plane was invisible? I finished the entire BOB campaign with everything maxed and didn't take a single hit from an enemy fighter! And it wasn't do to any superior flying skill on my part!

I really wish the A2A AI was more aggressive!
