I'm trying to reinstall SDOE on my Win2k computer. The installer crashes, so I tried copying the directory from a Win98 machine. When I run SDOE, it says "invalid installation, please reinstall". What constitues a valid registration? Is it checking something in the registry?

Thanks!

Check the first line in sdemons.ini and see what the path for the media folder is. For example if it says:

"Media=C:\PROGRA~1\FIGHTE~1\MEDIA"

in the ini file and you have the copied install in different directory, you'll get this message because the exe can't find the media folder. Make sure the install path reference (above) in the ini matches the actual directory you copied the install to and it should work.
