Hello again, my friends...after starting online playing, Iīve noticed one weird thing in my system. My framerates. If I play online, they are higher and game runs smoother, hardly pausing at all, nevermind how much objects there is in the mission. In offline gaming, the rates are usually lower! But sometimes they almost equal, but offline game is still pausing . The rates are between 6-40 offline and 30-70 online (it never gets under 20 when onlining. My system is PenII ,300mhz,128ram and cable connection. Any ideas with this one. IP: Logged |

Finally, got the issue tested, and the result was stunning. I moved some of those "frame-rate-killer-missions" to multiplayer folder, and put all the planes in the air and added some ground objects, just me testing alone, and guess what...Everything worked fine!!! No mentionable pausings, stopping or ctd:n...Rates never dropped lower than 30...Offline, same mission FR lower than 10??? So, I think somewhere is a problem. ...any new ideas...Rends?, Someone.. Thanks...TFF... IP: Logged |

Vincent, I have noticed that the Patch 10 release has a lot of stuttering in comparison with 1.5. I Thought it was the size of the 1024 skins as the stuttering was accompanied by the Hard drive light coming on, so I assumed it was related to the increase in Cache size which made it go outside the memory cache into the hard drive. At the weekend however I ran the 1.5 patch in the same directory as the 10 patch so that it used the same 1024 textures, I ran it in D3D using the same sdeamons.ini , it ran like a dream with no stuttering at all, I then ran the 10 patch with the textures set at 256 and the stuttering came back, took the textures up to 1024 and the stuttering was no worse. I run a 1.4 thunderbird, geforce2mx (Drivers nvidia 14.4), 256mb ram Asus A7V motherboard, in win98se I have forced windows to use memory before using the swapfile. I used the same mission in all the tests. In the ini file the cache is set to the maximum. Hope that helps IP: Logged |

I have noticed a lot of stuttering lately also but don't remember if it started with .10 or not, could be. My system is very similar to Commando's. I am using the latest Detonator Driver 23.11. I have tried all kinds of tweaking but it still continues. This is all offline.IP: Logged |

Thanks VDU and guys. The problem is still here, and I really hope it can be solved somehow... VDU:these are my ratings at sdemond.ini: DesiredDisplayRate=75 DesiredSimRate=20 MaxFrameRate=30 MinFrameRate=10 Hope these will tell you more, than they do to me And hereīs another one for you... I have VooDoo 3/2000 vid card and DirectX 8.1. Everything works fine basicly, but I canīt run the game with latest drivers for VooDoo. If I install it the game freezes just before it starts loading. Nothing happens and rebooting...no matter what renderer...any ideas to this one? Thanks...TFF IP: Logged |

Several people had trouble with SDOE and the latest Voodoo drivers. As I recall changing your desktop color depth to 16 bit helped some, but going back to older drivers was the best solution.IP: Logged |

Thanks Jerry...Now I can sleep at night . I donīt have to think about, how to make those new drivers to work...I remember when someone posted a topic here concerning SDOE versus desktop`s bits. He said the desktop donīt effect SDOE at all, `cause in all the cases game runs in 16bit, donīt know about that, maybe itīs a worth of trying thou..thanks...TFF IP: Logged |

Now that I think of it, the problem was that when using the new Voodoo drivers, when you left the game and went back to your desktop in 32 bits the desktop icons were out of position. At least that was my experience when I had a Voodoo 2 with the latest drivers. Or was it a Voodoo 3?The texture corruption and CTD's in the game itself were the result of the newer drivers, not the 16/32 bit deal.
