Hi Finn, I'll work through a couple of points:

Half time/Real Time - This is to help older slower CPU's (200mhz and less) You realy want to be using Realtime unless you have a very slow machine.

CPU Speed for best play - Faster is a;ways better As an example, my old AMD K6-2 500 mhz with Voodoo2 3000 was just about enough to play, IMO anything less than 500Mhz isn't going to be very good for you, turn on the frame rate counter (Alt P), if you are getting consistantly less than 20fps you're in trouble for online gaming.

Hosting - the Players don't realy host as such, the server does that, but, Yes, the way SDOE works, you can be the host, try it sometime when no-ones around so you can get used to setting up a game, picking missions ect, you'll see there's nothing to it.

Playing Online - Make sure there's NOTHING running in the background on your PC, turn off Anti virus, scheduling agent, anything at all that runs on your PC othere than SDOE itself, and above all, don't try to leave a d/l running and go play SDOE online at the same time LOL

These are the best tips I can give for now, I'm sure others will think of some though

Happy Fraggin!

Thanks Nat...solved a lot...another one came to mind thou.If I´ve understood right, everyone should have same programs add-ons etc...I was thinkin`what if I install my GRRRREEEaatt add ons back, can they interrupt the online came. Add-ons I mean are like planes, terrain mods, weapons, trains, ground objects...and stuff like that...??? Oh and about that half-time issue. My machine is a bit slow thou ,only 300mhz, but if I´ve noticed right, there is also even slower machines hosting and plying real-time...I always get the same assaulting: "you´ll be in disadvanteged position"...or something...and "your machine is too slow to host real-time"...something to do about these??? thanks...again...TFF

You are OK to have add-on's that are not 'standard' as long as

a) You don't use them in a mission online where the others haven't got them

b) They don't replace a stock plane. If you have a plane in a folder in 'aircraft' and the same plane in the parfile, it will always use the one in you 'aircraft' folder. So .... if you have a plane named the same, and it isn't standard, it will be used instead, and cause a mismatch. Skins are fine though. Use any ones you like.

So...in short, add-ons are no problem, as long as you keep an eye on things. New planes you might have downloaded will be fine, but be VERY careful with 'beta' releases or updates of old planes just to be on the safe side. Check with the builder if they are going to affect your online flying

What they said

You may also wish to grab a copy of Roger Wilco (RW) for online voice coms if you don't have it already. I have ver 1c which I believe is pre-spyware and it works fine for me. If you want I can email you a copy.

Bavaria Terrain is a MUST HAVE.

If by some chance you are also getting cdt's with games where others in the same game are flying P-51D's, it may be because you are not using the P-51D Beta Final which most of us 'hardcore sdoe wwii' onliners upgraded to shortly after PP6.1 was released...I think, somebody pls correct me if I'm wrong here Anyway, if this IS the case with you I can send it too you as well.

Glad you got it all sorted out for online
