I just upgraded my comp and SDOE isn't working so well on my Ti200. I can get as far as all but the aircraft box ticked on the loading screen and then nada. Any suggestions?

System:

AMD 1600
ASUS GeF3 Ti200

if any other details are relevant let me know and I'll post 'em.

Have you tried it with just a base install and no patches, to rule out being patch related? Is it the same in OpenGL and D3D? Have you tinkered with turning off some of the new card's options? What version of DX are you running? Is it running all other games, especially older ones?

My unpatched, fresh from CD version runs VERY SMOOTH on my new GF3Ti500. More tests to go.

Thanks Jerry & Pachy. I tried it in OpenGl instead and it worked great. I love the crisp lines on the aircraft, it all feels more real. Now I need to go snag some of those awesome high-res paintschemes.

WM, turn on FSAA and anisotropic filtering. You will see a HUGE difference in quality. OpenGL is the only way to go for SDOE IMO now.

With FSAA you will also see a hugh difference in frame rates - lower.

Hi Werner

I too recently upgraded to a Gf3 Ti200 (Hercules 3D Prophet) and you sure gotta tweak it here and there! For me I get to usually fly one game only in OpenGL before the pc locks up solid on the game load screen. This has done this many times now and it really sux cuz it truly is Superb in OpenGL when it does work!

Make sure you are using the best Detonator Drivers for it too. I've started using Det XP ver 4.13.01.23:11 and now get around 70 - 100 fps in D3d and about 50 odd in OpenGL. The card shipped with ver 21:81 and I was getting very low fps with them and then even with ver 21:83 too.

I know Biggs has a Ti500 and he reckons he's getting between 70 - 130 fps most of the time! I would've gone for the 500 too if they were'nt twice the price!

My Ti200 64 DDR is 250mhz qualified so I have overclocked the Memory Clock Frequency from 400mhz right up to 500mhz while still running the Core Clock Frequency at it's std 175 mhz. If your Ti200 is similar or has 4ns RAM you should be able to safely do the same. My Ti200 is now running at the same Memory Clock Frequency as a std Ti500 does and for me that's a bonus At this stage though I am happy to leave the Core Clock Frequency at std until I safely know for sure just what these baby's can really do

I am using a PIII 700 with 384Meg PC100 SDRAM, Dx8.0 and Windows 98 SE. I have Dx 8.1 on the pc but not installed as I aint totally sure I'll benefit from it.

Goodluck!
