Now, I'm thoroughly confused.

I have not installed the WWII Plane Packs on this installation, but I have gone all the way through the WWI files up to and including the lovely SPADVII...

I have finally accepted the idea that I should write missions using non-Nations squadrons for the French squadrons, and edit the names after the Editor, using Wordpad to change the squadron names.

So, to do that, I opened a mission I had written with a French WWI airplane as being in the Screamin Demons... I was going to 'manually' change it to GC Alsace.

In SDOE, testing the mission, it shows up as Screamin' Demons.

BUT, when I opened it in Wordpad, I found GC Alsace.

No, I have NO explanation, no idea, no clue.

I emailed the mission and a corrupted version (that happened when I tried to change the squadron name in the Mission Editor) to Vincent, anyone else interested in a dawn recon by a Bleriot on an Eindekker base, just let me know.

The squadron names are wrong...

That wasn't a new squadron, all the squadrons I use were installed with Nations 2.

Perhaps the installation screwed up?

"Alsace" is originally a Free French squad, and was founded in 1941 or so. No way you can make them fly SPADs

Seriously, I have a very basic install, original SDOE + patches + Nations V2 + WWI pack and it works without problems. Even with the SPAD and the WWII French squads...

Ahhh...

The HE-111 is going to force me to install the WWII Plane Pack (well, ya need early Spitfires and such for decent missions...), so I may do another second installation and try that.

So,

In what order do you recommend I install what so I get it right? Including Nations, the WWI plane packs, WWII packs, and terrains?

Hey!!!

I solved my problem!

I made a list of all the mods I wanted in SDOE,

Installed them in order:
Original disk(then ran it)
Official patch
Plane Pack 6 (WWII)
Plane Pack 6.1 (WWII)
Nations 2
Latest WWW patch (.10)
WWI Plane Pack 2
WWI Plane Pack 2 Patch
Somme Terrain
Somme Mission Pack...

I was thinking my problem may have something to do with the order I installed the mods in, or perhaps just re-installing helped. Anyway, now I can save both French squadron names, and the sky texture alterations!

Mission building here I come!

I'll add Bavaria, Smolensk, the Italian Fakes, the Dewoitine, the SPAD VII, etc. to the above,

And I cant wait to add the HE 111, Fokker DII, Zeppelin, the Dewoitine, etc...
