Here is an another one for you "einstains".So glad you`re there.I´m tired of pausings in my game. I thought it was my display system, cards etc. I admit, card was small and slow, Expert 99 and Ati Rage 128. So I thought I´d solve the problem by gettin` a faster card. So I bought Voodoo 3 2000 and felt really good until I tried the game and the pausing problem was still there! I lowered the texture an object details, but nothing happened. Waht should I do next. My system: Intel 2 299mhz, 128Mb of memory, Acer wiew 33DL (<-is it this that causes the problem?), 3Dfx Voodoo 3...hmmm, any ideas??? thanx my friends

What mission are you running?

If you want to check the framerates, this will give you an idea of how fast the game is running. The complexity of the mission can have an effect, which is something easily checked. Mail me the mission, and I'll do a comparison. SDOE is not a new Sim, and should run well on your machine.

Failing that, check for driver updates for the voodoo ....

If you haven't, go to your system tools and do a disk cleanup, scan disk and defrag your hard drive. I just had the same problem after deleting so old files and the defrag did the trick. Good Luck

Also, stop any programs from running in the background, things like: Seti@home, anti virus, Task Scheduler, anything like that which eats up your CPU power.

Although SDOE was designed for machines like yours and shoud run fine, the latest SDOE with all our updates and user made mods quiet simply isn't designed to run on anything less than:

P2 500
GF2MX or Voodoo3 3500 (more suited to Voodoo4 and above)

My last system was an AMD K6-2 550 and Voodoo3 2000, and SDOE was slow as hell, on my Duron 1Ghz GF2MX400 it runs smooth now and never drops below 25fps other than in mad missions with like 15 planes of something daft lol

Btw, try turning off tracer smoke aswell if you haven't already

Adjust your cache size. Easiest way is with the SDOE Control utility.

Thanks a lot, you all. I did a little bit of this and a little bit of that (mostly what you told me to) and would you know, everything is fine now...don`t know what caused the problem, but to tell you the truth, I don`t care as long as the problem is gone...thanks again, have a safe flight...T.F.F.

I have similar performance to Nat with my old PII 400 with 16mb Voodoo Banshee....but then again- SDOE runs pretty good in Glide so that may be it

IL-2 on the other hand will have to wait until I get an upgrade...so I guess it is 6 in one hand, a half dozen in the other
