I sure do like flying this bird around 'cause I'm part Russian. I get a big butt-ugly square shadow under the Soviet La-7. I've noticed the shadow is a spar.tif or inner.tif. Is this to be expected and do others have this problem. Is there a quick fix for it or am I outa luck. Is this a stupid question? C'mon, hit me with the frying pan...

cheers, Recon3

er... there used to be an easy fix, that bug was with the first release, I updated the zipfile to correct that bug the next day, but now that NBCI shut it's doors and I had to reformat and lose 3 years of work after a virus I don't have it, the version iI have also has the geeky shadow but I've not gotten round to looking into it again yet.

It's very possible that Jeeves or one of the other guys can help you out though, I hope so.

Thanks Nat, Jeeves. I've been looking forward to this bird having been born a combined 1st generation German (mother's side) and 2nd generation Russian(father's).
My grandfather (mom's side) was an officer in the 'White' Russian Army. My dad built a plane(Emeraude: French designed)and flew it from Vancouver, B.C. to the Oshkosh Airshow after winning best home-built in Canada EAA: http://www.eaa.org/ ....There's a passion in me, damit!---I love to fly combat.

I'm realy glad you like it though you do know I have built a couple of other Russian fighters and a bomber right? and I may have another Russian treat soon. I know none of my aircraft are 100% finished, more like 90% or there abouts, but IMO they are worth having, I just love the Russian aircraft, can't explain why, I think because they are "functional" aircraft rather than made to look good (although I think they do)

Anyway, I'm glad you like the La7

Thanks!

I love this bird too, but I took it out the other day and couldn't rotate max speed 27 mph it was the same with all the three zips i've got. Will it only start in the air? Please could you send me the shadow fix as well Jeeves.
Happy landings

I to love the La7 and Russian aircraft in general, but I think I'm having the same trouble as Blast, from the ground I cannot get the La7 to go faster then 27 mph. If I can get that fixed I would also like the shadow fix please Jeeves. Thanks.

Can you say 'post to simFiles' .
Nat, you've beautifully recreated some really sexy planes. Even the 'kick-back' in the IL-4 machine guns was a real bonus for me. Thankyou to you and to the other people too for some incredible work done.

cheers, Recon

If I just post a tif file on simfiles, is that OK? Are there any other files that should be added before I do this...like maybe the updated loadout? Let me know Nat what you want and I can upload it I guess....unless you want it up somewheres else Nat...

er... just 27mph on the ground? this is a problem I've never had before... infact, I think I know exactly what it is but I will need to check to be sure. I believe it's because this aircraft was built for the patch, using the manual prop pitch/auto prop pitch commands, it's these commands though that are buggered in patch9, that being said, it should start on auto pitch so it shouldn't be a problem. If you have the readme text for the LA7 just check it for the command lines you had to add to your keyboard.inp file to control the prop, but I do know that when I built here she was fully tested under AI with no problems at all, it's something I'm going to have to look into

Also-- the speeds are fine for me.....she starts right up and goes.....don't know what I did differently though...

You've got it right Nat. It does not work in patch 9 and it is probably for this reason.

I do not use patches, they screwup my old PC, so it is not a problem for me .

I found it out while testing the patch 9.

Thanks for sending me the Shadow fix Jeeves, looks much better with the proper shadow.

Nat, I double checked the La 7 and even from the air it's top speed is 27 mph on my system. Now this is in the .9 patch and you said that the .9 had problems with the La 7.

One thing I do not have is a readme file for the La 7. I got the plane from Rendsburgers list if I remember correctly and there was no read me in the zip. Could you please provide me with the lines I need for the .inp so I can adjust the prop pitch. Thanks a lot.

I also must say that the La7 is a fantastic aircraft, I can't believe you said most of your aircraft are only 90% done it looks like it's 100%!!! If the reorganization of SDOE by the Crew ever occurs, I really think you should bundle up all of these fantastic Soviet aircraft into a Soviet plane pack. Just a suggestion

That sounds about right to me it being a patch thing cause i remember flying her,and she flew well so when she didn't even rotate i couldn't figure it out.Trouble is i have two zips of the bird but no read me's so i can't do the Keyboard thing so what i need now are the lines for auto prop pitch.

Happy landings

I'm pretty sure that this is something I took out of the La7 because of the patch code not working, I'm searching the forum now for info on that...

OK, here's some essential reading on the La7
http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/004662.html

"If you have the latest patch installed then only use the La7 if you are flying her, she has the new code for Manual Prop Pitch which means the AI can't fly her till Bryan fixes the code up right, but if you're flying you can control the prop pitch by adding the following to your Keyboard.inp

inpPropPitchUpDigital = Control UpArrow : 0 5
inpPropPitchDownDigital = Control DownArrow : 0 5
inpToggleAutoPitch = Alt A"

and

"Hey Stark, actualy after some posts on the Patch forum we've found out that the Toggle Auto pitch doesn't work (the code needs fixing), but I have flown her myself under the patch and the prop pitch has worked fine, the best thing for you to do is download the update I've posted, in that the manual prop pitch has been removed and you should have no problems with it then.
Silly Question, but you did update the Keyboard.inp thats in the same folder as the patch didn't you."

So, I'm thinking you guys that are having problems with the speed have the unfixed version with the buggy prop pitch controls, the later version that Jeeves certainly has is the one with the code removed and shadow fixed.

Is this the one posted on simfiles Jeeves? (is it posted? LOL)

Nat,

Thanks a lot, the prop pitch command worked perfectly. I had to play around with how much to pitch the prop during takeoff to get the right speed, then once in flight I figured out the proper pitch for maximum speed. Now I can fully enjoy this aircraft, it fly's great now I'll go see how it handles against some 109's. Thanks again Nat

Not sure Nat-- I didn't post the La-7...only the IL-4.....would you like me to? If so, you may want to take the old one off first to avoid confusion....too late...I am already confused

LOLOL Jeeves, I don't even know if it's posted at simfiles, if it is, I didn't post it there... er... so... what.. er... ok, the La-7 needs reposting at simfiles (if it was ever posted to start with) called La-7 fix or somthing like that, sp anyone that got the old version knows this is a fix, but if it wasn't ever posted there, then it can be posted just as La-7..

OK, me thinks this needs looking into more lol, but anyway, I guess it could do with posting lol

BS, glad that fixed it for you, the obvious problem is that the AI only uses the min prop pitch setting, meaning AI can't fly her I realy hope though that this is something that gets fixed in the next patch, or maybe Jeeves or Recon will mail you the latest version that doesn't use prop pitch settings andso works fine with AI and human pilots

BS, she kicks serious 109 butt! as far as SDOE goes, she should be a good match with a 109D9 or similar, I think an F aswell, but other 109s should be seriously out gunned, out powered and out manouvered
