After unbigging the data parfiles in an attempt to reduce the overall size of the game by removing the aircraft that i don't really fly anymore i then rebiult the files into Data pars again only to find that the game won't recognise them. The read me that comes with Bigmunger is pretty brief so can anyone take me though the unbigging and rebuilding of the par file process in simple steps.

Happy landings

Ok I've written out a simple step-through of unbigging and rebuilding the par files using Bigmunger below, I've simplied a lot in some steps in the hope that I may help others out in the process:

1- Create a folder on your desktop called "UNBIG". We will unpack a par file into this folder and rebuild it again.

2- Note the name of the par file you'd like to unbig (or unpack) and start BigMunger.

3- Switch to the "UnBig" tab of Bigmunger and in the Path to bigfile field, type the location of the par file completely. One example would be C:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron\Media\Data24.par

4- In the Destination directory field of Bigmunger type the location of the folder you created on your desktop. In this case it would be C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\UNBIG\. Click OK to start the unbigging process.

5- The par file will be unpacked to the destination directory you specified, to rebuild the par file (after you've made some changes for example), go back to BigMunger and switch to the "Builder" tab.

6- In the Starting Directory field type the location of the files you'd like to pack. They should be in the directory structure they were when you unpacked them. In this case the directory you would type would be: C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\UNBIG\.

7- In the Output Filename field, type the name you wish the par file to be named when it is built. In this case you could use DATA24.par. I recommend that all three of the tickboxes on this builder panel in BigMunger are checked, and that the top-most radio button below the tickboxes is selected.

8- Hit Build and the par file begins to be built. When it's done, move it into your media folder and if the universe sees fit it should work.

Hope this helps!

Cheers.
