Can anyone give me the port id's for forwarding behind a firewall?I can get a few of the servers to show pings without this (I get ping less than 50 on Calif) but no lobbies show up? Thanks ------------------ Archer ^I^ IP: Logged |

I don't know of anyone who has ever gotten sdoe to work from behind a firewall.Try turning it off and verify it works ok without it on? ------------------ Condor out IP: Logged |

It works fine without the router (firewall). We just need the ports. I also wonder if the ports are different for each server? ------------------ Archer ^I^ IP: Logged |

Archer,as far as I know, FSSDOE is using the Anet library from Activision to do the multi player networking. This is a "FW-friendly" library which normally does not require you to add any rule in your firewall, IF you allow any outgoing traffic. You can read a technical brief about it by the author himself at http://kegel.com/peer-nat.html If you really need the ports numbers, if I remember well, MH sent a post about it in the "old" forum. I'll have to check that. UDP ports 21154-21157 should be in use... If you want to be sure, try to analyse the logs of your Firewall. VDU,Thanks for the input. I sent Activision an email on this and they were not much help with the port numbers. I have tried running behind the firewall, I get the servers list and when I click on one no lobbies show. I tried with your numbers and that did not work. It appears their Firewall Friendly is not, lol ------------------ Archer ^I^ IP: Logged |

Archer,I have the same situation as yours at my workplace. We are behind a CheckPoint FW, and I experience the same behaviour as yours: the servers show up with nice pings, but the lobby list is empty. I checked the FW logs, and strangely nothing seems blocked. What I suppose is that the NAT of our firewall is not compatible with Activision ActiveNET library. Sadly, it means that freeing any port won't do any good to that. However, I am also behind a NAT/FW at home, and there, everything works fine (without putting any rules to re-map ports). VDU,Thanks so much for your attention. Fortunately this is not a major problem since I can bypass the router if I want to play online. It is just a pain because I then have to reboot. No more jumping right online when I see action. BTW, what are you doing trying to play online from work ;p Oh well, mission aborted! ------------------ Archer ^I^ IP: Logged |
