Well SDOE finally kicked the bucket on me. I downloaded Harmans ground pack and only one or two of the vehicles would work. THen I made sure the lines to the startup.ppf were added and they were. Still the same problem. At the loader screen I would get an App log error. Well I thought it was just the ground pack so I tried to fly The sea Mossie next and got an App.log error. Now I was suspicious so I tried flying some WWI planes and every single one caused an App error and I had to restart my PC every time. The strange thing is, that a few of the WWII planes an missions load and work perfectly, but everything else is completely busted. I tried everything to fix this, I uninstalled the ground pack and uninstalled WWI pack 2, Still had App. log, I moved the ground vehicles and WWI to a seperate folder still had the app.log error. Then I reinstalled WWI and the ground pack same problem. I delete planes and nothing fixed it. Do you guys have any idea what could have caused this or how I could fix it? Or am I destined for a complete reinstall of everything. Thank you.------------------ -Blacksheep http://geocities.com/jays3299/toshindo.html IP: Logged |

Blacksheep, looks to me like you may have to do a reinstall. But that depends, how "old" is your SDOE install? The root of these problems can most likely be traced back to the startup.ppf. This file is the one that gets line upon line added to it and if there's a mistake or missing bracket, etc SDOE will most likely CTD/stop working. I find that after a while of adding add-on after add-on, SDOE finally gives up the ghost so what I do is have multiple installs of SDOE for different add-ons. For example when WWI Pack 2 came out, it went into a new install of SDOE. PP6 and the others stayed in my original install, but GP2 went in a new install though. For the online standard, I'm looking to install another SDOE for that too. Of course not everyone has a 40gig HD so this may not be possible for everyone, but maybe you could have at least two installs, one for WWI and one for WWII to at least lessen the load on either install? This lessens the load on the startup also.Just my thoughts. And let me know if you still have problems with GP2 if/when you do a reinstall. IP: Logged |

Blacksheep, I was having the same app. error messages even though I too inserted the new ppf lines. Harmen sent me his startup.ppf and everything works now. I still have to compare mine with his to see what the difference is but I would try this before an install. I just did a complete reinstall a few days before this new ground pak so you may be wasting your time by doing one.IP: Logged |

Jerry brought up a good point, Blacksheep there's a copy of my startup installed with the Ground Pack if you want to try it. It's called "COMPLETE_GP2_startup.ppf" and it's inside your media folder. Backup your existing startup and rename the said "COMPLETE" startup to startup.ppf and see how you go. I'm not sure if I have all the WWI refs in there though so as always make sure you backup your existing startup. Good luck! IP: Logged |

yeah...i think he installed the wrong startup.ppf that came with the ground pack...i think hes using the one that only lists the GP vehicle strings[This message has been edited by Vahnatai (edited 09-26-2001).] IP: Logged |

Thanks for the info guys. Harman, I had thought about doing a seperate install for WWI and WWII a while ago, but then I never did it. Sounds like doing multiple installs of SDOE is the thing to do so the burden on the startup.ppf is lessened. But first I will try using the ground pack startup.ppf file like Jerry mentioned. Thanks again for the info everyone.------------------ -Blacksheep http://geocities.com/jays3299/toshindo.html IP: Logged |

Oh one more question, if I do decide to do a multiple install, how do I set up the 2.9 patch to work in two different folders/installs. The reason I'm a little confused is because the 2.9 patch has to be in a seperate folder. So If I make two seperate 1.5 SDOE installs, how do I get the 2.9 patch to work seperatly for each one. It seems that the 2.9 patch chooses only one original root folder and I don't know how to make it work for a WWI install, and a WWII install seperatly. P.S. Two installs would be my maximum amount as I only have a 20GB hard drive. ------------------ -Blacksheep http://geocities.com/jays3299/toshindo.html IP: Logged |

To get two .9s working, well the way I have it is I have one patch folder inside each install with seperate shortcuts pointing to them. Just unzip the patch to one of your installs as you would normally, then copy that patch folder and move the copy to your other install also then setup the shortcuts. That's how I do it...IP: Logged |

Alright, thanks a lot guys I see how to setup two seperate .9 installs now. Looks like that's what I'm going to be doing afterall, I tried the .ppf that is in with ground pack2 but some other aircraft are still causing an app.log error. So I'm off to reinstall the whole game! thanks for your help everyone. ------------------ -Blacksheep http://geocities.com/jays3299/toshindo.html IP: Logged |
