Hello, I was wondering how I find out what frame rate per second I'm getting, so I can see if my graphics card is set to it's full capabilities. I have no idea where FPS is, or is there a program I need to get my FPS speed. I just installed a 64mb GeForce2 GTS, Thankfully it installed perfectly with the advice from members of this board, and one of my friends who knows his way around a computer. My other question is, what kind of frame rate should I have in SDOE with this kind of graphics card? almos forgot, I also installed the new detonater drivers. My RAM is 128 also, I'm planning to drop in another 128 RAM card that should help with speed. Well thank you for your help. ------------------ -Blacksheep http://geocities.com/jays3299/toshindo.html [This message has been edited by Blacksheep (edited 09-17-2001).] IP: Logged |

Use the "Alt p" key. You should see the info in the bottom r/h corner.FPS depend on way too many non-hardware type of things like fog distance, number of planes in air etc, type of planes in air...

Blacksheep: alt-p I think it is gives you the fps; display will be in the lower left corner of your screen. With my GF2MX, in OpenGL with patch 2.9, I get as low as 10 ( with explosions ) to as high as 70+...generally during most action from the cockpit I am in the 30 to 70 range. The drop during explosions just started with the switch to 2.9 and Open GL; with my old Voodoo2 12 meg card, even at 800x600, never dropped below 27. However, mileage seems to vary a lot with the switch to the new patch capabilities. I would guess that yours should be at least as good, and likely much better, than mine.

Thanks guys, I tried out Alt P and got the FPS to show up. I had no idea that it fluctuated so greatly, It went from almost 80 at times to 12 with an explosion, but most of the times it was in the mid 50's to 60's I would estimate. I'm also running OpenGL with the 2.9 so it seems to be a similar FPS. Thanks again for the help guys.------------------ -Blacksheep http://geocities.com/jays3299/toshindo.html IP: Logged | |
