Topic: How many plane types can you have in a mission?

I've found that if I create missions with more than 3 or so aircraft types at once, I get strange texture errors in SDOE - some planes have transparent fuselages, tracer and explosion textures are missing, etc. It seems to be progressive, so if you have 4 aircraft types, tracers and explosions are messed up, if you have 6, some planes have no textures, and if you have 10 or so just about everything is messed up. I'm assuming this is due to the game running out of texture memory, but I have a GeForce 2 card with 32MB of RAM! It's very irritating since I really want to design large-scale missions with lots of squadrons. Strangely I played one of the official missions which had 5 different aircraft types (Spitfire,Lancaster,P38,Me262 and Fw190) along with some ground vehicles, and there were no texture errors whatsoever.. maybe I'm doing something wrong with my mission editing? I have the latest beta patch, PP6.1 and the ground objects pack.IP: Logged |

Hi Drawde, the problem is that SDOE is limited in using numbers of Tif files. The original planes shared tif files but some usermade planes not or use a high number of tifs. So itīs not your graphicboard. This is why you see blocky clouds sometimes too.Rendsburger IP: Logged |

Oh dear.. Looks like I'll have to restrict the numbers of custom aircraft I use in my missions, and stick to mainly using the default ones. Any info on what the .TIF file limit is? Or which custom aircraft use more or less TIF files? (Since they're mostly packed into the PlanePack .PAR files, I can't see the actual files)IP: Logged | |
