Is it just me, or

is Archie one big mean bully?

Flying the daylight training mission with the Shorthorn 11 ( ) I have had pieces of each of the planes shot of until they, well, didn't fly too well. Also, the well modeled crews yelled indignantly and with great pain on a regular basis. Soooo,

What modifiers reduce the accuracy of that archie? Will distance, altitude, clouds, or darkness lessen the chance of becoming a lawn dart? Will evasive action work (didn't seem too... )?

Opening up that training mission, all my misery was coming from ONE dang peice of Archie. Skill turned all the way down.

Any discussion?

Chaps

Were you flying with the 1.2.9 patch? I think the flak has more effect on planes in the patch-- although the WWI planes may already have this accounted for....it wasn't a patch thing...just a plane thing

Yes, it was the 1.2.9 patch.

I'm going to 'mess around' some more tonight setting up missions with it, with the Shorthorn, EIII, Bristol Scout, etc.

I want to explore the Archie and it's effectiveness, how to get the manned (or aircraft, not ground target) balloons higher than ground level, etc.

I'm about ready to pay the price for the Combatsim how-to on SDOE mission building!

Do you know if the 'to-hit' chance of the Archie is affected by any factors such as distance, target speed, altitude, or visibility?

Thanks for your response,

V/R,

Flak in the patch is MASSIVELY overpowered, although there was little or no interest when I posted this on the forum, I did correct the flak strengths for WW2 flak, but it seems people wanted to complain about flak killing them rather than d/l the updates I did, ahwell, I tried.

I'm sure the flak strength is something that Argon will look at for the patch to the WW1 pack though, just ask him about it in the WW1 forum, realy speaking a flak warhead of no more than 0.2 should be used, and thats a powerful flak in the patch.

I have already lowered the flak warhead for the OP-WWI PP2 patch.

Thank You, ArgonV!

I think that this will make scenarios more enjoyable, especially for mud-movers like the Shorthorn and the upcoming Zep. If anyone wants more difficulty, they can simply use the mission editor to increase the skill, or increase the number of guns!
