Hi Everyone,I just got the game, I've been playing WarBirds OFF LINE only for about 6 months, it's fun but I want a greater challenge. My first challenge is that there is no bar in my Options screen to configure my Sidewinder joystick! What's going on? Thanks.. Dinsdale! IP: Logged |

Thanks for your reply,I guess I'm a bit more confused than that. In the Pilot Info Manuel, on page 7 'Options',the picture of the options screen shows a Calibrate Joystick task bar beneath the 'Game Options' box. This task bar does not appear on my Fighter Squadron options screen.... Does that make any sense? IP: Logged |

Well the first thing you should do is open your keyboard.inp file (located in the FS dir) with notepad. Then you will see the words "JoystickButton#", # being a joystick button number. Place your joystick buttons number just like you see them (use cut + paste) on the options you want but remember to remove the dup as you go. Also, always backup before you start this so you can go back if you mess up. With the sidewinder you will find it is very, very sensitive in SDOE so you'll need something to help you that, I forget the url but someone here can help with that, because you'll need it!------------------

hi dinsdale! ! just install your sidewindersoftware and choose a profile in the sidewindersetup. I've got the same problem in sdoe, i also can't calibrate the joystick, but that isn't a problem, because you just can fly without problems. goodluck.

Dinsdale; The Joystick routine was not in the final release. So, the manual is incorrect in that. Just use the normal Windows calibration routine ( or through CTFJ, if you use it ) and set up your key programs through your joystick's profiler.You may also be able to 'bind' keys to your stick through the keyboard.inp file, but I am not sure, and it would be best not to try unless you are a masochist.  Still, if that can be done, someone here should be able to guide you in doing it. I just use my CH SpeedKeys, and it works just fine.

Yeah, Dinsdale's a great FNG! I trained him! I can't wait to fly with you Dinsdale! WarBirds is fun, but this game rocks! Hope you get it up and running soon! Geez, how do you do school work with no computer? It's been a very long time since I was in school but couldn't imagine doing any course without one. (Well, except maybe the cooking classes I did.) Spell Check would have given me much higher marks when I tried to type essays myself. IP: Logged |
