I have 230 MB RAM and 32 MB GeForce 2MX video card. As I cant get enough FPS with 1024x768 when 3-4 planes are on the theater, I concluded that my problem is low MHz of my ancient Celeron 333. So I ve decided to overclock my CPU but I think SDOE doesnot like overcloking. My computer freezes after everything (terrain, airfields, aircraft etc.) loaded up. I have the chance to see my FPS before computer freezes out, and my FPS is always very high like 200,360,510!!! Whats wrong, any ideas? Galland ps. I tried in both Patches 1.5 and 1.5.2.9. all the same.. ----------------------------------------------------- [This message has been edited by 7./JG3_Galland (edited 08-21-2001).] IP: Logged |

I had a similar problem with my old Cel 300A on my Abit BX6-2 board. The best I could do and stay stable was 450, otherwise, lockup city on SDOE. Some other stuff would run a bit better, but would eventually lock up.After eventually upgrading to this 500E, I discovered a possible cause of the problem...my RAM was of different brands, including one stick of 128 PC 100 I had bought at a local shop. With a small shareware proggie called System Analyst, I discovered it was only being recognized at 124 - well, anyway, to make a long story short - it was most likely a RAM deficiency preventing me from going past 450 ( 83 FSB ). I had thought it was my HD or video or sound card...but they run fine with this 500E at 100 FSB. I now have matched Micron ( Corsair ) RAM, and all is well. Mayhap that is it...or...some Cel chips just won't OC, no matter what. Hell of a answer, huh?

This is not a SDOE issue. When you overclock your CPU it can run perfectly fine UNTIL you load it down. SDOE is probably the most CPU intensive game I've seen. You need to either, slow it down, or change the CPU core voltage (CAREFUL!!!!!) The other problem can be you're AGP card. If you jump to an 83 MHZ bus, the AGP slot is running at 1.5 times it's design speed. If your BIOS let's you, set the AGP divider, set it to 2/3 or 1/2 and see what happens. The BIOS automatically divides the AGP bus speed when you go to 100MHZ for your bus, but not necessarily at the other bus speeds. I gotta agree with DJ, this is very probably a problem with the Video card and not so much your overclocked CPU, the increase mhz being pussed to the graphic card is fine normaly, but can be to much when you add in all the 3D work, it's going to be a delicate balancing act, but I know some people here had Celleron 333A chips upto around 800mhz playing SDOE, so hold out a while, hopefully someone will pick this thread up IP: Logged |

510 is just a bad measurement... SDOE hasn't got any time yet to give you a correct FPS reading.Vincent IP: Logged | |
