Hello guys,What would be the optimum FPS during online/offline play?(FPS=frames per second, if I m not wrong) I usually have 16-17 with 1024*768 resolution, object and terrain detail at max. and 1024*1024 max texture size. Do u think this is normal? Or am I overloading my oldie Celeron 333? I sometimes get as low as 4-5 FPS when too many planes in the theater. I made some trials by decresing the resolution and object/terrain details and I got 43-45 FPS. And, for the last, do u think what FPS would be OK for smooth online play? Thnx Galland IP: Logged |

Hello Galland, normally I run with arround 30 FPS (somtimes up to 50, when low air traffic). Sometimes it went down to 10. I thought it depends on "NET Load". All is set to maximum. Steffen IP: Logged |

The game engine is designed to run at a minimum of 20 fps, anything lower will slow your physics calculations and therefore the game. If you are consistantly getting below 20 then you should adjust some of your settings (resolution, textures, clouds on, etc.) lower. Experiment with what gives you better fps without hurting appearance much.Edit. Ooops! I see you are already adjusting your options. Good. The type of video card and amount of RAM makes a big difference too in fps. You really should try to run at least 20 fps for both online and offline. Also, online, if you get under 20, you will lag/warp badly to others. Since going OpenGL and 1024, I normally get 30 to 70, depending on the amount of players, terrains, skins, etc...but with explosions and lots of gunfire, I can slow down now to under 10, which will cause me to warp...in fact, this happpened yesterday. So, online, it is especially important that the fps stay above 20 whenever possible.I'm not sure what I can do to correct the fps hit during explosions, crashes, etc. - even though brief, if someone is coming up near me, a lag crash is going to be unavoidable.

Press Alt Pthat will bring up the FPS display in the bottom left side of the screen, all it will say is something like 35.4 this number will jump around alot, and drop alot when you view multiple aircraft. ~Nat~ IP: Logged |

Galland, if you have not tried the fog settings, bring the fog in to about 9 miles and no clouds. That will give you the best boost for your FPS. Also 800x600 for the res and I would stick to the 256*256 texture size(if your outside looking at your plane all the time, then maybe go bigger). Now that I got SDOE fixed on my PC, I'm running the fog out to 30 miles, sliders out to the max, 1600x1200x16 and clouds on, I'm getting 50's to 70's FPS. ------------------ 7./JG3_Himdog out www.luftwaffe.net IP: Logged |
