Hello, I'm having a problem flying online recently. Everything goes fine, I'm compatible with all of the other online players, the mission loads fine, then when the mission starts I get a message saying cannot connect to host server - check network connection. Now I was flying online perfectly untill about a week ago, when I first encountered this problem. Sometimes the missions starts and I'm in it for a second or two, then it gives me the message listed above.

Now I have a cable modem, and my internet connection has been perfect and fast as usual, so nothing strange there. I'm running .9 patch and pp 6.1 as well.

What could be causing this, it has been happening for a week and that's whats got me worried. Could I have a bad server.dat file? Do I have to many aircraft? is anything corrupt? Thank you for your help.

Blacksheep; This is not uncommon, though at times it occurs more often, and at times less often.

When a mission starts, the Host Server is the pilot hosting the mission; simplified, the Activision server has no bearing once a mission 'starts' ( host clicks on 'FLY'.). It then becomes, basically, a peer to peer hosting process. This is not to say that it cannot be somewhere in your setup..possibly a .ini file setting.. or in the host's. In addition, anything running in the background, even RW, might cause this if your connection is experiencing heavy activity - or the host's, for that matter.

And then, some nights it just happens more than others. Try running 'clean' ( nothing but the game running ); also try hosting ( even as Host you can get that message ) a game with someone who has hosted when you got the message.

This info is far from complete - many others have more info than I do, and hopefully will impart some here. It can be a bear to track down, or might end up being a simple .ini file tweak.

Oh, I didn't know that it became a peer to peer hosting process once the game started. I thought that it was something with the server. I'll try shutting down all of my other programs before flying online like you said also so there is less interuption. I wonder what .ini settings might need to be changed? Well Thank you for your help, I will definitly try out some of the tips you gave me.
