Hello, the best way I can describe my problem is by just showing you a picture of what I'm seeing in my mission editor.

notice that where the town or airfields name should be, there is instead descriptions from the GUI showing up. Now I was having this problem within SDOE itself. For example where mission descriptions should have been, there were instead, aircraft descriptions of the Stuka etc. But I fixed it by deleting both of my SDOE cache files.

However this strange problem still reamins in the mission editor. BTW this is the 2.9 patch mission editor. Is there any way to fix this problem? I thought that I might have to many aircraft, I've got PP 6.1 WWI pack 2 and loads of other ground vehicles and aircraft. Not sure if this could cause it or not.

Well hopefully somebody knows what is going on in my mission editor, thanks.

Yup... you probably have over 100 planes in your aircraft folder....this is a bug. You can either lose some planes (no fun!) or break up your aircraft folder into different subfolders-- WWI, Ground Pack, Pacific, etc....pain in the butt- but a fix until the bug is squashed.

Thanks for the help Jeeves. Guess I'll be breaking up my aircraft into seperate folders then. I'm glad you knew what I was talking about seeing how my picture didn't show up, your pretty good.

Does anyone know if it makes any difference if the plane is in a .par file vs the Aircraft folder when it come to this Mission Editor corruption? In other words will 100+ planes in .par files have the same corrupting affect as 100+ in the Aircraft folder?

Blacksheep...

Good? Nah...just been here since the beginning

Jerry-- I would think that par files would be OK since it is the actual aircraft folder that's affected-- but even if you have sounds for all the PP planes, you will still have 100+ if there are 100+ planes....

Jeeves, I split my Aircraft folder up and had fewer than 60 planes in it (some were just skins and/or sounds) and still got the M/E corruption. Had to get it down to less than 50 before the corruption stopped.

So the par files do affect it somehow, unless we are overlooking something besides the number of aircraft folders. Like a/c folders plus loadouts? Since the M/E shows them all (par file planes, folder planes, loadouts) it could be a combination of factors.

If i remember right than Argon post a message somewhere that it isnīt the number of planes that screwed the MB but it is the totaly length of all loadouts!

If you narrow it down, it is the length of the loadout options causing this.. Hence if you delete and aircraft's folder, you delete the loadout.ppf file and you decrese the number of loadout options!

I think Harman gets credit for this idea (I forget), but I:

- Extracted all of the PARs to a temporary directory

- Deleted everything except the loadouts

- Went through all of the loadouts and deleted all of the non-English text (no offense intended, English was all I needed)

- Copied them into my Media folder so the game would use them instead of the ones in the PARs

I also did the same thing to the loadouts of any new planes/objects I downloaded before adding them to the game, including the Driveable Ground Object pack. So far, it has fixed the ME corruption for me. I have them separated out and can zip them up and provide them to anyone who wants them.

3dp,

That's fantastic that you were able to stop the M/E corruption. Could you please end those zip files my way.

ninjutsu32@home.com

Thank you for doing this, I really appreciate it.

Well- I am working on the loadouts...but in some cases I am making them bigger not smaller....there are no longer the "NET" loadouts, but in some cases I have new weapons to add in. Either way you look at it, the best solution would be to fix the problem. I know the WWW team is busy...so we are really in the hands of the others with NDA's on this one.

Granted-- I have also looked at deleting everything but the English text in the loadout-- since some of them seem to be bad Alta Vista translations anyways....but I think those among us who speak those languages should speak their thoughts on this as well?

Blacksheep,

On their way (along with their long winded explanation!).

Jeeves,

I don't mean to offend anyone in any way (Heck, in another post I apologized for my U.S. nationality!). If I were French, I'd eliminate all but the French text in my loadouts until the problem actually gets fixed, which will apparently be a while with the patch team tied up with more important things at the moment. I (and I'm sure Harman [who I think came up with the idea]) never intended this trick to be anything more than a stop-gap measure.

Ask Blacksheep, as I'm sure my hurried explanations in my eamil to him have him thoroughly confused right now since I never imagined sending them to others!

No offense taken

I agree with you-- and hope to see this one addressed by someone-- I know Bryan and Sv are busy- and they have done quite a bit already...someone else needs to step up to the plate.

If you will excuse my rude expression-- it is like my dad always used to say when I would be slacking off-- it is time to either shit or get off the pot

3dp,

I recieved the zip files, thanks for sending them to me. And yes, when I first read it last night you had me slightly confused, but now that I've opened up the files and taken a look at the loadouts, I see what your talking about. Hopefully this will fix the M/E corruption on my computer and thanks again for sending them.

I had the same problem and have installed SDOE twice a WW1 & WW2 which has cut down the size of the aircraft folders but some strange stuff still happens like i lost the server listing and for some reason i've lost the tents and other ground units in the WW1 install so I'll see how it goes also the extra terrain in each install eat's up disk space and ground crew gets confused, but hell it'll get sorted after all its a high class problem no other game comes close to this number of planes vehicles and terrain options to install for free!

Happy landings
