Okay, I've been around a bit and should know better, but I fell asleep during the lecture that went over the SDOE.TEX (and other) file[s].

Can someone please tell me what this file is, how the heck it got so big (469+MB and increasing everytime I kick off the game) and how I can go about cleaning it up? If I deleted the file, would the game recreate a new one? Are there other such files I could possibly delete or perform clean-up maintenance on?

its a cached decompression of the texture files.

I explain the why's & wherefores in the skins tutorial at http://fscentral.50megs.com How to's section

It also stores decompressed terrain textures (see why it's so big?)

delete it

I think also if you enable the "Conserve Hard-disk space" option in SDOE, it will prevent these caches from being re-created again.
