I installed Maces latest Sea mossie and everything was fine worked like a charm.So the other day I went to play my favourite mission in the training section and I find the ratos are on and will not be shut down they just keep going.This is the version where the rato fires automatically after startup then shutdown when below a certain speed.
So I tried installing it again no luck so I installed it on another install of sdoe and it works fine no rato probs what is going on, its got me stumped.I really want it to work on my original install as this is my offline one where I can play around with color schemes and the like.I am using the latest patch on both installs and the sea mossie is patch compatable.

A curious and frustrating problem Dinga. The mechanism for the RATO's is that an airfoil breaks off at round 30 mph which switches the RATO engine / flame / smoke on. At around 200 mph another airfoil breaks off and triggers 'no fuel' to the RATO engine and detaches RATO prop / flame / smoke. If the 'mossie' is kept below 200 mph the RATO always is on.

If it occurs again check the speed and if it is more than 250 mph and you are still getting the benefit of the RATO engine / flame / smoke then the airfoil trigger is not detaching. I'd be interested to hear how it goes.

Hi Mace thanks for the info on the rato system.I just checked it out.The airfield attack mission, the ratos are on no matter what speed indicated.When it was working the ratos did not come on at all in this mission and I have never noticed them come on in a mission that starts airbourne.Something has changed somewhere because my online installation is working, ratos stay off and only activate when you are taking off,just as they should.Could it be an airfoils related problem?

Dinga, thanks for the feedback. There is a keystroke override for the RATO system. cmdBomb = A (you don't have to use A) This normally disables the RATO system. So if this command is in your keyboard.inp file and working then pressing it (and keeping it down for a second or two) should disable the RATO. I'd be interested with the results.

Checked for the cmdbomb= A its there alright but pressing the a key and holding it down did not disable rato.The airfoil trigger is not detaching as you say Mace.

It would be insteresting to see if the Sea Hurricane launching from the CAM ship with the RATO has the same problem.

Does this 'bug' only appear in 1.5.2.9?

Mace, THe Sea hurricane has the same problem even from the Cam launch. It auto fires and won't shut off even if I'm way over 300mph.

THe Rato's used to work fine in my 2.9 patch, now all of a sudden they stopped working properly. I have no clue why? I never checked it out in 1.5 but I could give it a try.

This is the problem, the new keyboard input file (which I know Blacksheep downloaded and I suspect Dinga did too) now has TWO commands tied to A
cmdBomb =A
inpMasterWeaponsArm = A (This is the original keymap)

Change cmdBomb to:
cmdBomb = Shift A

(shift A is not mapped to any other command currently)
This will fix this problem

Getting a headache

I think I'm getting a handle on what's going on and I think it has to do with a misunderstanding about how the keyboard file is read by the program. THe old belief that 2 commands can always be mapped to the same key if an aircraft doesn't use both may not be true under certain circumstances. I'm going to have to do more testing to verify this.

Headache getting bigger

DJH,

I added the cmdbomb = Shift A but the Rato continued to fire. I tried holding Shift A pressing repeatedly, nothing worked. I don't think it was your updated .inp file causing the problem because I noticed this problem just before I downloaded your new .inp file. Dinga I believe had this problem before the new .inp file as well.

I'm really clueless as to what caused this and how to fix it.

May have solved the RATO issue. Have found that if Invulnerability is ON 'triggers' do not work. So under Options_General make sure Invulnerability is OFF!

See how it goes!

Mace, Thank you for trying to help. I never fly with invunerability on, so that was not causing the problem on my end. But I did manage to fix my RATO problem anyway. I don't know why this worked, but I switched back to my old keyboard.inp the one from pp 6.0 and the RATO began to shut off when it was supposed to. I sent my the inp that fixed my RATO problem to Dinga, I don't know if it fixed his problem though. Thank you for trying to help me again.

Sorry guys have not been keeping up with this thread.
Blacksheep thanks for the file but no luck
Mace I tried your idea thanks for emailing me also interestingly this had some effect not switching invulnerability off because it already was but activating it did shut my Rato off .Thanks Mace.I noticed the other A1 Mossies rato was still engaged.This is on my original sdoe install which now I believe could not be helping the situation as I have the sea mossie working fine on my second sdoe install.Well thanks mace Blacksheep and Da Jug Head for your help
