Hi everyone,
I just bouhgt the game a few hours ago, and I'm currently trying to rise it to the "online standart".
FS runs perfecly once patched with 1.5; but can't start anymore after installing the Nations V2 files. I've followed carefully the readme and extracted it in the media folder with the "use folder names" option checked in Winzip.
Any idea ?
I thought that it might be that NationsV2 require planepack6 to work, so I installed it too, but the sim still refuses to run.
btw, my system is athlon 500, 128 mgram with GTS2 card (D3D).

Thank you for your help !

Hope to see you soon in the air...
Alfred

Alfred,

There is a bogus Nationsv2 running around called v2.1, if you got Nations off the Wings with Wires Link or My foghter Squadron Central links, you're ok.

Second, If you have the disk from unbeatable deals. com, uninstall fighter squadron, reinstall it and DON'T run the 1.5 patch, the EXE file in the unbeatable CD is already updated. It shouldn't have installed- but you know how computers are!

Next, try this, Create a folder called unzip on your hard drive, and extract nations to there, make sure all of the folders are extracted properly, if not- your download hiccupped.

I'll be on at about 9:30 to 10:00 MST in the US. I need to dig up my ICQ #, for some reason the shortcuts have disappeared from my taskbar. I can help you that way.

Good luck

Thanks a lot for your help.

Checking the content of my FS folder, I noticed there were two files named keyboards : one with an .inp extent, the other with a .bak extent. For some reason the patch 1.5 hadn't been able to overwrite the former file, creating thus an other one.

Though I have now to deal with new issues (and it's only the begining LOL !). I downloaded a utility called SDOE control 2000, and every time I launch it, a window pops up and says "invalid varient type conversion". Then the programm starts but many features don't seem to work (they are grey and all at zero as if the programm hadn't been able to read my ini files).

Could you lighten my mind on this ?
Thanks again...

Alfred

Tiens, c'est pas tous les jours qu'y ya un nouveau petit froggie... Bienvenue. Je continue en rosbif, pour l'homogénéité de ce forum.

The French version of NationsV2 is bugged. If you run the game in French, you cannot run the game anymore after installing Nations V2. You can either run the game in English by replacing

Language = langFrench

by

Language = langUS

in the sdemons.ini file (note that the mission editor does not work in French either), or fix your Nations V2 installation by downloading this file:

http://perso.club-internet.fr/gledimet/StringTable.zip

extracting it, and replacing the following file:

c:\program files\fighter squadron\media\StringTable.ppf

I am planning to integrate this fix into Nations V3 (and possibly fix the mission editor too).

I bet this problem with SDOE control is also a localisation problem... you know, different decimal separators.

Merci Patchy,
Bravo pour ton nickname...
I resolved those pb thanks to your coments regarding the nationV2 bug.
Now that my system works, I want to improve the graphic side : time for downloading add-ons !
Any advice should be very welcome... (as usual)
In particular I would like to know if there is any improved cockpits ?
The planepack 6 has installed different options for some planes in dos programms : what do you recommend (for the P47 d I have for instance the choice between low detail or real cockpit)?
Can we tweak the external cam in order to have a closer view of the plane while flying ?

Je sais, je sais, ça fait bc (trop)de questions; mais cette simulation a l'air exceptionnel.
Hope to read you soon,
Chao,

Alfred

The 'zoom' command works externally too. Just hit F2 then the square brackets same as in the cockpit. You may have to adjust the zoom in SDOE Control to get it where you like it. Try the high res cockpit and see how it looks. My video card is crappy but I still get nice graphics just no rivets. You can't see them at 300+ mph anyway.
