Hawk, please contact me, I would like to check a few point with my radeon config.STef Latest patch (...29) D3D 1) Dover's cliffs are flickering 2) vertical texture on cliffs is displayed slower than other ones without Anti-Aliasing activated. 3)Sea seems very unsharp 4) I'm flying in a square world. No fog? OGL 1) can see a darker edge of ground textures when flying high (also in X-Plane) 2)I'm flying in a square world. No fog? 3) slow/hang with explosions, gun firing (maybe soundcard related needs further checking). ------------------ P/O STef simGazettes.com editor IP: Logged |

I fixed a few problems by adding some missing lines in the sdemons.ini file: FarClip=17 FogNearClip=16I'm posting a few screenies because I'm stuck with a few problems I can't fix and have lost complete faith from SDOE. The red circles are showing an incorrect texture display as if the antialiasing was made with large square textures at first and then become smoother. On the coast edge, there are some troubles with the textures, they show lines. On this one you will notice the bridge isn't complete and is presenting the same smoothing problem than the bunkers. It happens with any drivers. Current: Radeon drivers 5.13.01.3224 beta, Win 2000 SP1, Radeon Vivo 64 mb, 384 mb RAM. Any help appreciated ------------------ P/O STef simGazettes.com editor [This message has been edited by STef (edited 08-13-2001).] [This message has been edited by STef (edited 08-13-2001).] IP: Logged |

StefThe bridge and cliffs aren't a card problem, it's a problem with the D3D rendering engine. How well does the Radeon handle OpenGL? THat fixes that problem. However, some cards experience a problem with the fog rendering in OpenGL. THe patch team has solved that and said it will be included in a later release. Good grief though. As good as the FM's are getting and with all the add-ons coming out, this seems like a pretty small thing to be "losing faith in SDOE" over. Of course, if we had flat terain like EAW, that wouldn't be a problem On the gun sounds- if you're using some of the 16bit stereo sounds, they chew up a lot of processor time. Another cause of this is running low on available memory. [This message has been edited by Da Jug head (edited 08-13-2001).] IP: Logged |

STef, also, if you are running with antialiasing on you will get much better frame rates with it off and not a real noticible difference - at least in SDOE.IP: Logged |

Great news, so you are meaning this is a NORMAL bug and not a buggy bug from my own configuration, so much time wasted... I miss my Voodoo2 there wasn't any problem with it but the low 12 mb VRam.I have to give OpenGl another another try now that i have fixed the fog settings. Thanks to both of you. ------------------ P/O STef simGazettes.com editor IP: Logged |

Normal bug- I like that! Yes it's a normal bug. The reason for this is, Voodoo was all the rage when this game was under development and quite frankly, Direct3D sucked at that time. Because of this, a lot more work was put into the Voodoo renderer. (Which was better than a lot of companies that NEVER included a D3D renderer in their games- Sierra comes to mind- boy did they pay for that after the TNT2 came out) IP: Logged |

Okay, let say I have fixed my Radeon's drivers for OpenGl (damn installation process). Is there to solve that: or is a known NORMAL bug? ;p Thanks, STef ------------------ P/O STef simGazettes.com editor [This message has been edited by STef (edited 08-16-2001).] IP: Logged |
