On startup the screen opens in a large coarse color limited format. Something has changed as this is a recent phenomenon. I have tried the latest patch, updated the video driver (Voodoo3 3000), uninstalled, reinstalled to no avail. I need advice!

Its a small world when you find a fellow Adelphian on this board.

Try setting your Desktop to 32bit. I had the same problem and the same card when I updated the drivers. I've also found that the 1.04 work much better.

Thanks for the suggestion. Installing DirectX 8.0a fixed the problem. I now have strange terrain textures after about 10-15 mins which I'm trying to fix.

Also a V3 user here, and from your last post you're obviously flying in Glide, I get the same screwy textures in Glide. I have masses of cooling on and around my Voodoo so I know it's not heat thats the problem, there's obvioulsy something wrong with the drivers and SDOE, I use D3D al the time anyway since the resolutions are higher and general image quality is better, and D3D is the only way you'll get rid of screwy terrain textures.

If your interested, I use D3D @ 1792x1344 16Bit
