Hello, The tailhook toggle stopped working on my planes. Now I took a look in the keyboard.inp and the tailhook cmd is no longer there. Could someone please give me the proper cmd I need to enter for the tailhook to work again. My other problem is that I can't single fire mortars or rockets in planes or drivable vehicles. I'm hitting the proper key 8 for single fire and it fires all of the mortars or rockets at once anyway. DO I need to add or change anything in the startup.ppf or keyboard.inp? Any help on these matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ------------------

Make sure this is in your keyboard.inp:cmdHookUp = Shift O cmdHookDown = Control O And for single fire: inpSetSingleFireMode = 8

Thank you for answering my questions Jeeves. But for some reason the commands arn't working. I triple checked and they are entered exactly the way you wrote them. The tail hook still won't come down and the Rockets are still firing all at the same time. The commands are all entered into the INP file but they arn't working. Do you know what might be wrong? I'm really clueless as to why it's not working. ------------------

If you are flying the patch, the patch folder has it's own keyboard.ini file. Are you looking at both .ini files? (Assuming you have the patch).IP: Logged |

Yup...as Jerry said-- make sure the keyboard.inp file you are referring to is in your patch folder wherever it is.The only other thing is maybe the tailhook is a DOF function in which case it may not work in the patch...but the single fire should....did you hit "A" before you hit "8"? ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! I only have one keyboard.inp file. I don't have any update patches because every time I tried to download the patch I got a.dll error and had to use the go back feature on my computer to remove the patch. But that is a whole other problem. So anyway the only other keyboard file is the keyboard.bak and I don't go in there. And I believe I did hit "A" before firing the mortars but I can double check just to be sure. Thanks for all of your help guys, I wish we could figure out why this isn't working. I'm going to check everything out one more time in the .inp file and in the game just to be absolutely sure I have everything right. I'll let you know and thanks for trying to help me agian. ------------------

Alright I checked everything again, the cmds are properly entered in the inp file. Then I went into the game and the tailhook still did not work. Then I tried single firing Rockets with the Soviet Katoicha and it fired them all at once.I remember reading somewhere that there is something you can do to restore the keyboard and startup.ppf files. Do you think if I restored them then enteresd all the cmds again that they would work properly. If so, how do I restore the keyboard file. Or if there is anything else you guys might think would be the problem, I'm open for anything. Thanks ------------------

One other thing I could do is send you my keyboard.inp file....I know that those things are working on mine....you just may have to change some of the key commands for your stick as I have weird ones for my MS FF Pro If you want me to send it-- e-mail me here: Jeeves64@earthlink.net

As far as I'm aware, the only planes that have tailhooks use the 'cmdHookToggle command to operate them, not the separate up and down commands. In my .inp file, it's 'cmdHookToggle = U but of course you can set it to any letter you like... For the guns and whatnot, try setting each gun to its own letter, i.e. change the commands from joystick button to, say space bar for the guns and C for the cannons and see if they'll work then. That at least gets you started. You may find that your joystick buttons can't be set up to match the sim's layout for commands, unless you can program your stick buttons. That may mean you can only fire one type of gun from the joystick button, or you may have to set all guns to fire at once using the joystick, and fire separately from the keyboard.

I got the tailhook problem fixed, thanks to some help from Jeeves. And thanks for the advice on the individual firing I'm having a problem with, I'll give it a try.------------------ http://geocities.com/jays3299/toshindo.html IP: Logged |

I got playing with one of the later version Corsairs last night. I hit the ground with a resounding thump. Fortunately, I had myself in superman mode. Pressed 'g' for gear which came down nicely then noticed I had a hook. Naturally, I had no idea what key to push to bring it up so I could take off again. Eventually, pressed 'h' and up it came. My tail gear settled gently to the ground and away I went. Not that I'm going to change it, but is it supposed to be the 'h' key? Just curious.IP: Logged |
