I was adjusting the environment settings using SDOE Control 2000 and now my planes appear black both inside and out (with the exception of the instrument dials, which are white). What's weird is that the terrain and sky are okay.

From what I can tell, my .ini file is back to its original values (ambient light, brightness, etc...) but the aircraft are still dark. BTW - I'm still using patch version 1.5 (or is it 1.5.1??).

Any ideas?? Thanks, G-man

Yes. The light adjustments in SDOE Control make a BIG difference in lighting and shading when you start to change them. I learned the hard way to just leave them alone once you get the mix you want. Trial and error is all I can suggest to get back to something that works.

Although all monitors and video cards are different, you may want to try this if all else fails. I ended up with both ambient and infinite light sliders in SDOE Control all the way to the left and changed the settings in my ini. file to .05 for infinite light and .45 for ambient light. Even at that I have my video card adjusted lighter than the default for it.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion, Jerry. It worked! By going directly to the .ini file versus using SDOE Control to adjust the Ambient and Infinite Light, I was able to get the "color" back on my aircraft.

Thanks again. G-man

P.S. What do you use for your FarClip and FogNearClip settings? Just curious.

15 and 14. But it's just a matter of taste and computer power. The further out the more power you need to handle the textures. I have enough power to go out further but I kept getting a straight line horizon because I could see the edge of the texture map all the time.
