I have been trying to download some aircraft skins over at Abberville Field http://af.3dgw.com/ and have been unable to download from that site as far as skins go. I can get utilities and mission campaigns so I know those links work. I have e-mail Werner and am in contact with him. It appears that the Simfiles storage location is a problem. However Werner says he is able to download fine. I have tried bot Netscape v4.7 as well as Internet Explorer from three different type of machines: SGI Octane, Windows NT, and my home Dell PC.I am trying to determine if the problem somehow is mine (although three machines do not seem to make it so) or a site storage URL problem. I do not use accelerators, just the vanillia Netscape or IE program. Please try to download a skin from this site and see if you can get it and then post here. If you are successful, please mention the program and version you are using. Both Werner and I would appreciate it. Thanks

Speed, You could try this site for some skins, http://www.26th-aircorps.org/ Casualty has done a fine job on them. This way you can determine whether or not it's the source or whatever that is causing your problems. P IP: Logged |

I'm able to download skins just fine from two different ISPs, so I'm at a loss to explain the problem, but I want to identify where people are having problems, if any, so I can give dogma a clear picture of the problem. The skins aren't linking to my hard drive either, I checked that.If people could just follow Speedbrake's instructions above I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

Psi,I have no problem downloading from Casualty's site for some skins, http://www.26th-aircorps.org as I have no problem downloading directly from Simfiles.com SDOE area or CFS2 area. To my systems it appears to be a problem with the link from Abberville Field once I get to Simfiles AF storage area. IP: Logged |

Speed, I'm going to have to agree with ya. I tried to D/L a random 109 skin and it linked to sim ok but I was watching RX and the signal was very dicey. I didn't get the D/L complete and you know how how Gozilla works if you get an incomplete D/L you can restart the D/L and complete it. I tried and that too didn't work. Not your system...P [This message has been edited by Psi (edited 06-03-2001).] IP: Logged |

There had to be a reason, and with dogma's help it is now clear. After all this time Netscape still doesn't support filenames with spaces passed through scripts, so any skin with a gap in the filename gets hung up with netscape. Fortunately the vast majority of my schemes (done by Yardstick) have no gaps in the names, a big thank you to Yardy for his foresight. I will go through page by page and update them to be more netscape friendly (for now it's hit and miss), so keep an eye on the newsreel at AF for details.Nothing to see, nothing to see here, go home people, nothing to see Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today!
