No in game sound except for the wing/metal flex you hear when pulling G's or rocked by flack. Main menu sound (music, speeches) is heard. Sound works in all other programs. The individual SDOE .wav files work when played with another player.

No planes (friendly or E/A show up on radar and only my plane shows up on the map, even though I can F5 to other planes...they are in the game.

Can not T target or Padlock other planes. You can see them and take control of them but the game is not recognizing them!

Everything else works.

Symptoms are the same in both .8 patch and standard 1.5, and with 6.0 and 6.1 Plane Paks.

I first noticed this after installing Harman's Ground Pack...but I uninstalled it and used the Windows Me Restore function to reset my systems settings back a few days when everything was working and I still have the same problems.

I can always do a complete reinstall of SDOE but does anyone have any suggestions I can try, to avoid that? Thanks

Have you tried deleting your sdoecache.tex and sdoecache.dir files and rebuilding them?

I have the same problem with the WWI test pack. I can't hear any MG sounds or some of the engine sounds. My work-around was to unbig the par file and put the files in under the media directory. Then I put in some older MG sounds in from the old WWI pack. Don't know why this is happening though.

jgro, I think I found the problem which may be your problem too. It's too many planes in the Aircraft folder. It wasn't apparant at first because evidently whatever it screws up takes a while to clean out. After uninstalling Harman's Ground Pak, renaming my Aircraft folder, running with just 6.1 and rebooting several times in both .8 patch and 1.5 modes it cleared up.

My problem wasn't just sounds though. But it could be that your installing of the WWI test pack had the same effect on your system as my installing the Ground Pak, it pushed the Aircraft folder over the limit.

In the past I (on another system) and some others had the problem of too many planes but it corrupted the Mission Editor.

I wish someone would look into this. We have so many add-ons and betas, it's a shame not to be able to use them at-will without having to have seperate Aircraft folders. The trouble seems to start as you approach or exceed 100 planes/trucks in the folder.
