Introductions time! I just ordered FS and should be receiving it in a few days and I'm dying to get started. I've done some prop flight sims in the past and even spent way too much money on Warbirds online. But it's been a good two years or so since I've done ANY flying on my computer. I've been checking out this site and lots of the other fan sites and I truly am overwhemled and amazed at the size and enthusiasm of this community! Seems like there are plenty of links to all the updates etc. that must be installed so I think I'm OK there. What other advice would you give a buddy who is just starting out?- Josmi IP: Logged |

Go to http://fscentral.50megs.com click on the getting started link. Since you've played warbirds, there's a tutorial on getting into an on-line game in the Online section. Other than that, bounce around and see what you can find. IP: Logged |

Best advice to a newbie to SDOE, but someone thats flown other flights sim... DON'T be put off when you keep crashing! SDOE has a pretty advanced Flight Model, meaning the planes fly alot more like real ones than almost any other sim out there, and especialy Warbirds, so be patient and learn to fly Other than that it will pretty much all be covered in the link above posted by Da Wing Once you get used to flying SDOE you'll love it I'm sure, but don't forget, every plane is very different here, so if you get good in one, that doesn't mean you can fly all of them.. hell I still find 109's hard to handle! One small suggestion, and it is only that - start out with just the sim, the 'official' patch 1.5, Nations 2, and PP 6.0 to get the feel. Hold off on any updates for a bit; just getting used to the sim will get you familiar with the file structure, and with Da Wing Waxer's site and this board, you can get up to speed on all this sim and it's community offers, as well as a good feel for why and how it has progressed.
