Hello Guys,

may be a stupid question from a greenhorn. In the windows explorer I canīt see the files which i got from the installation of nations V2 and PP6 and also not the original files from the CD. If i download a plane, i can see the files in the folders.
I tried to show the hidden files, but it doesnīt work.
Who can help me?

This is completely normal. All the nessecary files are held in compressed files called "PAR" files. PAR files are like giant zip files, except WinZip doesn't open them, and SDOE can read their contents during play. It is possible to unbig or "unzip" these par files and do things with their contents with "BigMunger". When you originally install SDOE, three PAR files are installed, DATA1.par, DATA2.par and DATA3.par. After you put the planepack on, more PAR files are added with new data nessecary for the new planes and such to appear. Check your media folder, you may notice that after Nations and PP installation, some new PAR files are added. The reason why you can see the files added when you install single planes or add-ons, is that these add-ons don't come compressed in PAR files, and go directly into your SDOE folders. The advantage of having add-ons in PAR files is that they are compressed and take up less space, but the disadvantage is that you can't 'see' the files unless you 'unpack' the PAR files. By not seeing the files, this also makes it harder to mod them...

Each par files has different files types contained within them, and you will find that some have tiffs (textures), and some have only sm files (3d objects and openplane data), while others hold sounds and GUI information.

For much more related information on this subject, check out this link on installings planes/skins and etc:
