I tried to edit an offline mission i made, using my "everything that can be D/L'd and fly" A/C folder. got a window, " Required file MissionsEditor/s/s.sm not found". hit OK, and gota window "File open failed. invalid mision file format". When you try and load a mission in the mission editor, the mission file itself tells the editor where to find the "sm" file containing the terrain data such as the airfield and town names for the terrain that will shown in the mission editor itself. If the editor can't find this info, it can't load the mission. According to the error message put out by the mission editor, it is looking for terrain info held in a file called "s.sm" in a folder also called "s" under "missionseditor" in your media folder. When you first created this mission, what terrain did you select? Also, check your media folder, and look for a folder called "Missionseditor" inside it. If you can find it, look for the path the error message specified: "Missionseditor/s/s.sm". It looks as if it's trying to find a terrain sm file that doesn't exist. That directory the mission editor error message is specifying seems odd to me. Usually, valid directories to terrain data are things like: "Missionseditor/Africa/Africa.sm" or something like that. To have a terrain called just "s" is strange to me. That's my opinion anyway. I'm not too sure on this one, but try opening the mission file in Wordpad and editing the mission path from the error message one: "Missionseditor/s/s.sm" to a more valid one like: "Missionseditor/Africa/Africa.sm". Save and try it out. I'm not 100% sure this will work, it depends on which terrain you originally intended to create the mission on.

I hope this helps.

Ichecked and found i have no Missionseditor folder under Media! the only thing i have is the application file under FS . this is odd as i have created appox 30 offline msns, with no problems , prior to this. Suggestions? Anyone?

Yes, It's ok if you have no missionseditor folder under media, because the default terrains data are held in the missionseditor folder that is locked up inside one of the PAR files. But having no such folder under media indicates that you have no terrain mods, and yet the mission file you created is asking for a terrain sm that doesn't exist. This is indeed a strange problem, you can create a new mission using one of the default terrains like Africa, Dover and the Rhine right? I guess I could suggest as a last resort, if the problem keeps happening and stops you from enjoying the game, a reinstall.

no prob w/ creating in Africa, Dover Rhineland. it just in editing 2-3 msn! would installing other terrains override this situation, or complicate it?

Well, if you're just having a problem with 2 or 3 missions, then I suppose it's no biggie of an issue, however installing more terrains, if done correctly, should do no harm imo, but I doubt it'll 'fix' the problem you're having with the msns.

PS, If you like, send the missions you're having probs with over to me and I'll take a look at 'em
